I didn't want to go at 36 weeks but my husband made me. Food poisoning & dehydration.

I was only sent once, to the building next to the hospital (prenatal diagnosis center) for a NST. I would likely never refuse though.

No. I can't think of a context in which I would. I chose doctors whom I trust.

@CakeLady: My OB and MFM are in disagreement about things, and I had a scheduled NST this morning that was fine but have been spotting all week. The OB insists I still have a low-lying placenta so I should be seen while I thought it was fine because the MFM has been saying the issue is gone.

@spaniellove: In your case, I think I would always default to the most conservative course since you've been so high risk. Always better to get an uneccessary check up, than to miss something.

@spaniellove: Have you had a transvaginal ultrasound to determine whether the placenta has moved up?

If my doctor was concerned enough to want me to get checked out, I'd get checked out. Odds are that everything is fine! But on the teeny tiny chance everything is NOT fine I'd always want to know I did absolutely everything I could to protect my kid.

@MamaMoose: agreed. Better to waste time on nothing than to miss something serious.

@keiki_mama: I did last week and I know the OB has the report, because we went over it 2 days ago.

@spaniellove: I know that this has been a long and frustrating journey for you - but you're definitely in the home stretch now! You've come so far, at this point I think it's better to be on the safe side. Hugs!

I'd go. Always better safe than sorry, even if you believe it is a total waste of time.
I went during my 1st tri (100% against my will) because I was so sick and the doctor found out that I hadn't eaten in days. 4+hours later and they said "you're fine". Grr! But it was better safe than sorry.

The one time I was sent to triage for "probably nothing", I had a baby...... Sooooo, I'd go.
honeydew / 7916 posts
I thought about it this morning and realized that the u/s tech at the MFM last week didn't actually measure how far up the placenta was. Baby's head is still very much sitting on it and after not being able to move his head she gave up and just wrote that it wasn't "obvious previa" so the MFM brushed me off as "fine".
So if the spotting doesn't totally go away today I'm going to trust my OB and go in. That MFM is 100% useless.

@spaniellove: No, never. I was there 3 times during my pregnancy.

I went once or twice --- I was firmly in the "better safe than sorry" camp.... I was fine, but felt better knowing I was checked. So, no, never refused - was always happy to go.
