My doctor said it was ok but everything I read says it's a no no. I waited just to be sure.

Yep, I got a prenatal massage. Other than being really awkward because the pillow they had me lay on smooshed my boobs, it was fine. I got PT massages from early on until a couple weeks ago as well for tension headaches.

No. The place that I go to won't even do them for you until you're in the 2nd.

Nope, I was too paranoid. Any place that I've gone won't do them in the first trimester anyway. I had one in the second trimester and it was awesome and I plan to get another one between now and baby.

@Andrea: Same. My assumption was that miscarriages are so common in the first tri that they just don't want to have any coincidences where the massage could be blamed.

Nope. One of my best friends is the manager of a Massage Envy in our area and they won't let you until you're in your 2nd trimester because of people who might try to blame a miscarriage on the massage. I'm totally going to use my friend discount soon though.

I did at about 11 weeks. We were on vacation and got a couple's massage in the beachfront cabanas, aaahhh. They had no problem with it, I just had to sign the standard waiver form.

I did, at 10 weeks, it was a prenatal massage. My Dr. okayed it as did the massage place. They both said it was a liability issue of people blaming the massage for miscarriage, but that there was no reason to believe that it actually could cause miscarriage.

I wanted to on out babymoon in cancun and the spa wouldn't let me cuz I was 13 weeks along. I was barely even showing and should have just not said anything. I think a prenatal one should be okay, especially if you aren't putting too much pressure on your belly.

No, I had tried to and was relaxing in the robe and everything, but when I told the masseuse that I was pregnant, they wouldn't let me have one done.

Yes. It was a prenatal one. I was about 10 weeks and it made a big difference in how I was feeling. I had horrible sciatic nerve pain.

Yes, I think it's silly to avoid massages. Places are too scared to touch you, though. I had a great one and felt fabulous!
