I live pretty far from my family and DH's. I think it would be fun to have them visit and take them to a place and get an ultrasound when I'm pregnant. I think they would like to see the baby. They are already so excited about being grandmothers one day.

DH has a cousin who was very open about their infertility struggles and at her baby shower (huge family party with like 60 people!) she had an ultrasound tech come to the party and do one on site! Apparantly that's a thing where they live in West Virginia. I was chasing LO around the farm outside so I missed it,but I know my mil and the other women of her generation were really excited because ultrasounds were so infrequent and not detailed at all when they were having babies -
We went to a 3d place with both of ours and would absolutely do it again. It was completely a different experience than with the medical ultrasounds. Nice bed, projection screen and the tech just concentrated on getting good shots of their faces and movements.

Yes! 2--early gender scan at 16w and a 3D scan at around 28-30 weeks? My mom went to the 3D one...it was so fun!

Yep, we had a 3d/4d one at 31 weeks!

We did for just that reason. We were living 1200 miles from my parents, so when we were visiting for Christmas we went to have an elective ultrasound. It was the week before my scheduled anatomy scan, so they got to find out it was a boy with us. I loved the experience and highly recommend people do it. We got lots of time to look at baby, tons of pictures and a bear that plays his heartbeat.

Yes, we had one at 14 weeks 6 days. It was awesome.

No, only one at 22 weeks with DS and 4 at various weeks for medical reasons with DD.

Yep, a 4D one between 28-30 weeks.
We happened to be visiting and I wanted my parents to be involved somehow, considering I would be delivering on another continent and they wouldn't be coming to visit until much later.

I had one at every single appointment for both of my daughters, plus an extra one by a different doctor to determine DD#2's sex and do a gender reveal while visiting family. I had no hesitations about this since it's just the way my OB practice did things (I didn't feel there was any added risk), and it's really fun to have all the extra photos/videos.

I had a 3D one with my first at 28 wells because my grandfather was on his deathbed and I wanted him to see her. I had another with DD2 because I didn't want her to feel left out.

I opted into an elective viability scan at 9 weeks. I wasn't comfortable having one at 6 weeks, then waiting til 12 weeks, since i m/c my first at 12 weeks (after seeing a HB and everything at 6 weeks). Plus i was starting a new job and wanted to tell my boss!

Nope. I had one at 20 weeks, and that would have been my only one if not for him being late and they checked fluid levels.

I never would have thought I'd do one, but it ended up being a really nice experience to include the grandparents in.
