We love the name we chose, but are suddenly wondering if it's more popular/trendy than we thought...it's jumped from the 60s to the 40s in the last couple years. 
And we didn't have any backup names that we really loved but a trendy name would really not be our style...

I was afraid that I would! I basically wouldn't let myself look at name websites, name threads here, etc. it helped that we announced their names before they were born so I felt more committed to them. At the last second I did panic that Alice had an A name like my husband and I, and Blake was the odd one out with another first initial.

Was it in a movie or used by a celebrity or something like that? If not, I wouldn't worry about it. I think there's a difference between popular and trendy.

When I mention it around here people say they've never heard anyone use it, yet it was the #43 boy name in the state last year.

@spaniellove: I love it...yes, I've had a few students with the name in the past few years. I have at least two with the name this year (I have over 600 students). But it's a gorgeous name!

@spaniellove: I've heard that boy names are more concentrated, so the top 10 constitutes more (%-wise) of the babies born that year than say, the top 10 girl names. Which would mean that #43 doesn't necessarily mean that many babies were given that name. I love your name choice and I think you should stick with it!

Yes! Everly was one of our top five. I've loved it for about seven years, long before it got popular. After Channing Tatum named his daughter that it really skyrocketed. I'm glad we didn't use it because Viviana fits her so much better, but it's still a beautiful name.
