We didn't do it for our infant seat. My husband was very confident that all was right and LO was safe. He's not so confident about the convertable car seat... he said there's a lot more to it. So we're going to get it inspected.

we did it recently with our infant carseat - keyfit 30. even though it was easy to install.... good thing we did because we didn't do it as tight as we should have - we needed to get on the seat and REALLY pull the strap to strap it down really tight. plus, the cop showed us how to put the baby in the carseat, etc.

At the hospital I delivered at, they wouldn't let us leave without checking our carseat. I agree, the infant seat is pretty self-explanatory.
What age did you switch to a convertible carseat? that's what we'll be getting when my son is older, but idk what age.

No, we have not. We always remove it and put it back, too, so we're not about to go get it inspected every time we reinstall.

We definitely will be! I recommend to all my NICU parents to get their seats checked, and I practice what I preach! There is a reason that these seat checking services exist, and I think the one in our city charges like $15 - I spend that on a lot more useless/impractical stuff all the time!

We will be. I think we can go to our fire station and get it done for free. I also want to take it to BBB and see if they can show me how the damn thing works. I'm confussed.

We plan on getting it checked by a family member. We have several cops, fireman, etc. so we'll just have one of them check it whenever we put it in.

I want to but like your husband mine is pretty confident he'll get it right. Seeing as how he's transferred our nieces and nephews quite a few times already.

We took ours to the local sheriff office to get it checked out. We thought we installed it properly but we were wrong!

We had our infant seat installed by a police officer at our local police station. And we'll probably do the same for the convertible.

We would like to, but we're running out of time. I looked into all of the carseat inspection services in our area, and they're all booked for appointments for the next month! I might be able to get a drop in appt at the public safety office in our town next wednesday (they only do them once per week), if I don't go into labor before then.
I agree that the infant seat seems pretty easy to install. We watched some youtube videos, and DH is sure that he did it right. We also cranked down on those straps until we physically couldn't tighten them anymore, so hopefully we're good to go!

We didn't, because there isn't a service that is available where I live.
I like the You Tube channel, esp. the one for Britax on the proper installations. The tethering is important and I've seen most people don't even bother or do it incorrectly.

@skibobrown: make sure to go on top of the seat to put more pressure down and then pull the straps - that's what the state trooper did lol.

We didn't. Like @Looch, it's not available here in Mex. Most kids don't even seem to use one, which is horrifying.
I have heard so much about how easy it is to do it wrong, but honestly, it seems pretty simple! (Talking about an infant seat here.) Also, like PP, we sometimes had to take it out and put it back in so having it inspected wouldn't have kept us too long....

@miss-spunkin: We just switched over, LO is 8 months. But we really should have done it before. We just didn't have the money for it then.... which I hated because LO is first priority! But we also had to buy a new roof, and keeping a roof over LO's head is priority too. If only money grew on trees.
