I did not because my taste in names changed. I made a name list with my BFF in the 5th grade....Samantha, Cara, Douglas, Dean, Victoria, Jennifer, Jessica, Amanda, Karen, Michelle.

I did because it was a family name! But i know what you mean because my taste in other names definitely.

No, my tastes have changed.
It also doesn't help that two of my favourite names as a kid, Edward and Jacob are now names I'll never even consider.

@pui: But... but... then you could have a girl and name her Bella!!
honeydew / 7230 posts
Uh no, I had terrible taste in names as a kid. I even had "twin" dolls named Denim and Lace!
honeydew / 7917 posts
I think I only came up with a list of names for my future girl. I have two boys.
grapefruit / 4049 posts
It ended up that DH and I always liked Victoria, so it's one of the girls' middle names! Not sure when I started liking it though... Their first names I've liked just since adulthood.

@SAHM0811: still one of my favorites! My friend claimed it so I lost interest in using it! Lol
honeydew / 7230 posts
@yin: I only came up with girl names too. I guess having a boy didn't seem as glamorous when I was little!
watermelon / 14206 posts
I don't even think I was even thinking about naming my kids when I was a kid, lol.
honeydew / 7230 posts
@mamimami: Ha, well, yes, obviously I was. Just to be clear, neither of the names we picked for our babies are fabric choices...
GOLD / wonderful olive / 19030 posts
Nope, I have definetely changed my style since then! I've always had an interest in names, my sisters and I used to pick names for the whole alphabet and compare!
GOLD / watermelon / 14076 posts
No! When I was little I didn't consider things like how a name would look on a resume or how it could be misspelled/mispronounced all the time.
cantaloupe / 6692 posts
No. I liked the name Jason for a boy when I was young. That is NOT LO's name. Lol
hostess / wonderful watermelon / 39513 posts
@Danizaur: I think it was on my list but spelled as Jayson...lol!
pomelo / 5258 posts
You mean did I name my baby Hot Fudge Brownie Sundae? The name I was certain I would use? No. I didn't even use my more sophisticated version: Sundae.
papaya / 10343 posts
lol no. I mean I haven't named her yet but the finalists are not names I think I had even heard of when I was a kid. I never spent much time thinking about names as a kid because I never wanted to be a mom, but I do remember for a summer I'd thought up the name "kakeela" (rhymes with tequila) and I thought it was AWESOME and if I ever had a kid I'd name her that. YeaUmNo.
grapefruit / 4120 posts
@Mae: All of the HB mamas with kids name Kakeela are going to be really offended.
PS This thread reminded me of Ramona Quimby, anyone remember how she named her doll Chevrolet because she thought it was such a lovely name?

I was totally obsessed with the name Sherry. I don't even know why but I had like four dolls named Sherry.
I don't think I'd ever thought of C's name as a kid. I really didn't think if it until a few months into my pregnancy. We always focused on boy names since we were so sure we'd only have boys.
grapefruit / 4903 posts
I did! Her middle name is one that DH and I found together, but her first name is one of two that I had planned since I was young. DH didn't like one of the two, but (obviously) he loved the one we chose. She was due right around that saint's feast day too, so it was an easy choice for a finalist. We took two names per sex into the delivery room, and DH picked it upon meeting her. Teenage me is thrilled

HA. No. I had horrible names picked out back then. Antoinette was a front runner as a kid, for awhile.
cantaloupe / 6687 posts
I loved the names Laura and Danielle when I was little. I also loved Brian/Ryan for a boy. There is another boy name I loved as a child but we may use it so I'm not disclosing (very plain classic name).

I did
I've loved DD's name since 7th grade, but it's a pretty classic name and doesn't come in or out of fashion IMO.
hostess / wonderful watermelon / 39513 posts
@coopsmama: I liked Antonia!
@sandy: I still like Laura, Lauren and Danielle!
cantaloupe / 6059 posts
@autumnlove: I actually kinda like Antonia. I wouldn't use it, but it sounds elegant and strong. Antoinette just sounds so hoity-toity! Haha.

No kids yet, but I only thought of girls names when I was younger, and I was obsessed with Gabriella and Hannah. I had one of those dolls that came with a birth certificate and monogram stickers and she was Gabriella. I still think they're pretty names, but I won't be using them.

My tastes slightly changed, but not much. My favorites when I was a little kid were:
Mira Serene
Elizabeth Lynne
Aaliyah
Vaughn
Cody
As a young teen I remember being obsessed with Bianca - I thought it was the coolest name ever!
kiwi / 613 posts
My taste in names has not changed since I was a kid, however, I couldn't get DH on board with them! We still did pick a name I've always loved, but it definitely wasn't my #1 from when I was a kid

I didn't, but two of my friends did. They named their girls Sofia and Brooke.

Ahhh, my favorite name was Kelly, because of Saved by the Bell - I don't think we're going there for our LOs!

I won't be using any of my fave names from childhood. Either they are already taken (niece & nephew) or they are just too popular.

I don't remember names I liked when I was young, but it definitely wasn't what we named DD!
cantaloupe / 6630 posts
No, my sister used my favourite name, Sophie. She also used my second favorite, Ella. The name we chose I'd never actually heard of before, and judging by my family's reaction, they hadn't either

DS1's name is a name I've loved since I was 13 or so. I didn't think I'd ever use the name, but it fit him perfectly.

I came across the name when I was about 11 so it stuck with me that it will be my first daughter's name! And it was
When I was younger all my dolls were named either Amy or Emily and insisted that's what I would call my daughters but didn't turn out that way!
