I don't know much about summer camps... I only ever went to a nerd camp one summer.
Did you go to a summer camp? Where was it, and how did you like it?

I did. And I loved it. I went every single summer, all summer long. I went to a day camp for the majority of the summer and a sleep-away camp for 2 weeks. Thinking back, there really weren't many "amenities". Just a bunch of kids in a community center in NY. But, I had fun just the same. It helped foster so many friendships. The socialization is definitely better than staying home.

I went to week-long overnight camps in the summer. Church camp and 4-H camp and I LOVED it! Some years I went to a different church camp with a friend. All the camps were within a couple hours of home. I also went to some day-camps when I was young like Girl Scout Camp & soccer/cheerleading when I was older.

I never did, but DH did. I went to camp with school once. It was lots of fun.

I went to sleep-away summer camp every summer for 8 weeks (home on weekend). It was a camp for figure skating and I looked forward to it all year long. I stopped going when I was about 12.

No, never been to a summer camp. I thought it was so cool watching Salute your shorts or the Parent Trap.

Yes, but this was like school--you came home every day. We did this because my parents worked full time, so as soon as school was over (June), we had a few days off and then summer camp.
I only did the over night camp twice--one was for 3 days (in high school and was more like a science research study), and one was for 2 weeks, also in high school.
If you didn't go to summer camp--what did your parents do with you all day when they had to work?
