I use "different" very loosely here. In high school there was a girl named Brilliance and a girl in my English class named Venus.
Any different names ever cross your path?

We had some "weird" names to other schools but growing up with them I didn't think they were all that strange: Kerwin, Freedom, Promise, Karlette, so for a small town these were different.

Yep, I don't want to say their names because they are only 4-5 years old, but my some of my students names are pretty out there. Out of 17 kids, probably 5 are usual, common names.

Hurmmm... I Don't think I've met anyone with a "different" name. Seen plenty on tv though. My favorite is Luscious! HAHA.

@chopsuey119: lol that's what my brother and his wife want to name their son if they have one, Lucious, like the guy from The Village.
I worked at subway in HS and saw many drivers licenses', one guy, no joke, was named "Hilarious". He had people call him Larry lol poor guy. One other frequent customer was named Monster.
Seriously, some parents!!!
My dad worked with a guy whose last name was Hunt and he named his daughters Easter Egg and Treasure.

@miss-spunkin: DANG! I actually like the name Lucious! The girl was named LUSCIOUS like luscious lips! HAHA.
Man. Some parents are so out of control.. Although. I do know a girl named Easter (which is pretty I think). The egg + hunt are too much.

@Jennimac: Wow. Though, as a child, I probably would have loved having a friend named True Leigh Divine. Kind of awesome.
I had a friend named Snow. Her older sister was Jewel. Her younger sister was Christine. Not sure what happened there.
I also know people named Princess (common with Filipinos I think), Gerlie, Gaylord, Bunny, America, and Italia.

I had a friend in college whose parents had lots of kids. He was among the oldest so he had a common name (Chris) but he had younger brothers and sisters named Prince, Princess, Precious, Pride, and Patience.

I know!!!! There was a family at my school that named all over their kids after windy, storms, or stuff like that. They had Windy, Stormy, and Breezy. Their last name is Hall.
There was a family I taught swim lessons to that named their family after rifles. THey had 3 boys and one girl. The boys were Dakota, Colton, and Weston. The girl was Remington.

I have a nephew named Exodus. Like the bible book. Exodus Vaughn. And other named Levi Athan...as in Leviathan.

@Jennimac: Dakota, Colton and Weston are all super cute names... but Remington is a little out there. I think the weirdness is just what they're all named after I guess.
I know a family that named their two sons after alcohol, Miller & Jameson. I think the names are cute though.

@Rachel: I know a guy named Harry Moon! Really, it's Harold, but he went by Harry.
My friend's brother named his sons after weapons--Scythe and Glaive. I want to know what they would name a girl.

My husband has had quite a few doozies at work!
The weirdest I've come across were our neighbors when I was younger. The kids were Winter, Summer, Autumn and Spring!

@Jennimac: my old boss named his daughter Remington, they calle her Remy which was cute.
In camp as a kid there was (a very cute) boy all the girls loved named Tower! Oh so cool.
In college I had a good friend named Treasure, which was unusual I had thought, but seems more normal now - suited him so well!
Anyone watch 9 by Design or Home by Novogratz??? The Novogratz have 7 kids an they have crazy names like Wolfie, Breaker and Five...

I came across the name Harry Junk. No lie. And growing up, my friend's last name was Goff. Her father's name was Jack. Say that together.... yup!
My aunt told a story about a woman who delivered her baby at the hospital where my aunt worked. The lady didn't name her baby right away. When my aunt asked her a day or so later what she decided to name her, the woman told her she named her Female - pronounced like Tamale. When my aunt asked her where she came up with that name, the woman told her she didn't, the hospital named her, it was on her birthday certificate! Could you imagine?!

Remembered a few more! I once came across a business card for Gene Poole at a medical facility. Also, there is a slightly famous guy I once worked for named Sterling Ball (son of Ernie Ball, the guitar string guy).

I have the whopper of all sibling sets among my friends. I'm totally serious here, not making this up. Three sisters, named:
Fiagenagluckus (Fiya-jenna-gluck-us)
Fioraioles (Fi-or-uh- ee-ol-us)
Fianaceanreahnhatch (fiya-nay-see-un-ree-on-hatch)
Parents ended up splitting, mom went to a mental institution, dad got custody and let the kids pick new names for themselves, which ended up being really normal and girly names.

@Orvis18: First thing I think of when I see Ridge is Bold and the Beautiful! Funny in a really sad way!
We have had some Sudanese refugees come through my school and the kids have had unusual names. Can't think of them now but they were words you don't normally have as a name ( like amnesia). That was more a language barrier thing though.

@regberadaisy: I knew a family with the same names. Did you live in California?
In my line of work I see some doozies. I wish I could share them with you but HIPPA prevents me from doing so.
I live in Utah which doesn't help. Every name is pretty crazy here!
