After searching for a couple months and meeting with about 5 pediatrician offices we have finally settled with one that we're going with.
I *know* technically you don't have to let them know. You just let the hospital know when you go into labor.
But I wonder if there's any benefit to letting them know now?
Did any of you let your ped know prior to delivery you were choosing them?

We tried calling the pediatrician's office to let them know who we had chosen, and they didn't even want to hear it. They just told us to tell the hospital who we had chosen when I was in labor, which is exactly what we did, and it worked fine.

We actually haven't chosen our ped yet so no. But I probably will by asking to schedule a wellness appt

Well, I called them to make sure they take new patients... They said to just have hospital call them.

We told him at the interview that we were going with him and asked if we should do something like fill out paperwork. He said no, don't worry about it, just tell the people at the hospital.

Ours is a solo doctor practice, and she stopped accepting new patients right after our interview. We filled out paperwork at the meet the pediatrician night, so we were set up already, but the hospital had to call and check if we were "in."

I never said "I'm choosing you." 
Our pediatrician told us to give her name to the hospital if we wanted her as our pediatrician. We could have easily chosen someone else.

Same here. They just told us to let the hospital know the name of the pediatrician. I thought it was kind of weird but ok.

We also just told the hospital when we delivered, and then when we got home we set up her week old wellness visit with the Dr we chose.

Nope. I tried, though. I call ahead of time to let them know we'd chosen them, and they told me to just let the hospital know when we checked in. That's exactly what we did, and it worked out perfectly!
