Did you look at the c-section rate at your hospital?

@bluestriped bee: yes! There are two hospitals very close to me and I chose the one I delivered at because it has a lower c section rate and a higher rate of med-free deliveries. By quite a bit!

Nope, I didn't care as long as I ended up with a healthy baby.

It says mine is worse, but both doctors I had really worked hard to have me avoid the ER. I'd need to see more details about how they made their decisions on these hospitals since most of the hospitals in my state are designated as "worse."

I looked at the hospital, but I was really more concerned with the stats for my OB. And my OB only has privileges at the one hospital.

    No, I didn't feel strongly about avoiding a c-section.

My mother had c-sections and I kinda figured I would too (I did). I picked an OB I trusted and went from there.

The state I delivered in isn't on there, but it has one of the lowest c-section rates in the area. I delivered there because that's where my midwife delivers. There is a hospital in my state that has a 100% c-section rate, so I would have avoided delivering there (it's a rural hospital).

Very interesting! My hospital is among several other top hospitals in Chicago that are all rated on the worse end of the scale.

The only area hospital rated on the Better end is West Suburban, which has am alternative birth center. I started out with a midwife group who practices there, but it wasn't right for me. My friend delivered there recently, but had a csection due to a failed induction. You never know what can happen, I guess.
