Or any other IUD?

My mom got pregnant with an IUD (not mirena, this was 15 years ago) and had it removed and miscarried, or miscarried and had or removed? I'm not sure.

I do not know anyone that did, and I do know quite a few people who use Mirena.
I do know people who got pregnant on the pill and from using the pull out method though!
@duckduckkristen: I think the IUDs of our parents' generation were a whole different thing-- not as effective, a lot more side effects... at least, that's what I hear and what my Dr said.

I know someone who got pregnant on Depo, had a failed/incomplete AB, when they went to put the mirena in there were still products of conception present (nothing viable, just remnants). Mirena was put in and 6 months later she was pregnant again.
I can't even begin to fathom the odds of both methods failing!!!

I've had two friends get pregnant from Depo - both unmarried, right out of high school!

I don't know anyone who's specifically had Mirena, but I do know someone who had an IUD (could've been Mirena - I didn't ask) that had a tubal pregnancy. She already had 3 kids and didn't want anymore, so she ended up getting her tubes tied.
On another note, my mom had a copper IUD back in the day and she was allergic to the copper so her body pushed it out!

@FutureMrsMcK: yes! One of my friends who is in med school told me about a scan they were Joan and asked to guess what an object by the heart was... It was a mirena that had pierced through and was just floating around her body! Ugh. I'm sure they're extremely rare circumstances but still. Gives me the heebie jeebies!
