My dad wanted me to have a little girl, my mom wanted a grandson, and MIL was just thrilled to pieces that she was getting a grandbaby, she didn't care! 
My mom was so funny though, she kept saying how boys were so much easier and so much fun, I was like um, you're talking to your DAUGHTER!

My parents didn't care, they just wanted a healthy baby. My MIL really wants us to have a little girl. She talks about it all the time.

My MIL really wanted a girl since she didn't have one herself. We have an awesome boy. I think to some extent she's disappointed that it's not a girl.
My parents didn't care either way. They have 3 boy grandchildren and 1 girl grandchild.

My IL's only cared to the extent that if we'd had a girl there would have been a massive party (hasn't been a girl born into the family in over 75 years). But they're thrilled with our boy--they joke they wouldn't even know what to do with a girl (although everyone is holding out hope that if we have another LO it will be a girl because it'll be the last chance for one in this generation). I don't think my parents cared much (they have equal boys/girls).

MIL kept telling me how she "preferred boys" and my mom kept bringing up girly things I could do with LO if I had a girl.

i think my parents wouldnt care either way.... I'm sure my mom hopes i have a daughter so i can experience all the fun things she did with me, we have a great relationship.
My inlaws i think would probably want me to have a boy. my BIL and SIL had a daughter last june. I also think they will think hubs would do better with a boy at least the first go around.

My mom wants a girl. I don't know if my IL's really care either way. Our baby will be the grandchild tie breaker though. We already have 3 girls and 3 boys between by BIL's. I'm fairly they're not having any more children.

None of them have said anything to us about gender, but I'm pretty positive my Dad would love it if I had a boy. He had two sisters and three daughters, and I know he's just dying to have a little boy to cart around with him!!

My in laws and parents wanted a girl for our first. My MIL and parents wanted a boy for our second but FIL wanted another granddaughter! We will have 2 girls!

My ILs don't care at all, and my dad doesn't care either. I think my mom has a slight preference for a girl, but I know she'd be thrilled with a boy, too.

My ILs didn't care because they already had 6 grandchildren. My parents really wanted a granddaughter...or at least that's what I gathered when I told my dad we were having a boy and his response was, "oh, well I prefer girls."

My in-laws don't care, and my dad doesn't care, but my mom wants a girl. My uncle is dying for me to have a girl. We're having a boy!

My FIL and one of my DH's aunts really wanted us to have a boy. Although my FIL didn't express any disappointment (he thinks BabyGloss is the most gorgeous baby ever . . . and he has two other granddaughters), he is over the moon excited about his soon to be grandson, and before that, he was super excited about one of his friend's babies who was a boy (close in age to BabyGloss).

Our parents didn't care but my mom was positive we were going to have a girl. We found out DS was a boy at our 20 week scan and she was surprised! The funny thing is my mom is always right about this stuff but DS tricked here early!

Mine couldn't care less, DH's will expect that we keep having children until we have a son to carry on the name. It's cultural, I keep reminding myself that.

Our parents don't care. But my dad and stepmum are CONVINCED it's going to be a girl. They keep texting me photos of baby girl clothes. It's kind of hilarious.

@mrs. bird: My brother is the only male of our generation, and he and his wife were one and done, so we were all sort of hoping, just a little, for a boy for them, since otherwise our (extremely common in the US) family name would die off. They did have a boy, but now all the pressure's on him for the next generation (he is currently 1 and 1/2 years old
My ILs I don't think care at all-- MIL is just SO thrilled we are having a baby. Most of my family won't care, but my dad has said things like, well who wants a girl? To me, just one of his FOUR daughters. He's done a few things since my brother's son was born that piss me off, actually, like indicating that that grandson is more important than my sister's son, because of the name. And it's not even a cultural thing. He would love a granddaughter, I'm sure, but either way our child won't be as important as my brother's. So stupid.

Nobody really seemed to care. MIL was really excited about us having a boy because DH was her only and she really loves little boys, but I know she would have been thrilled with a girl, too.

My MIL really put on the pressure for a girl. She only had 2 boys herself, so she has been waiting to live vicariously through me. Lucky for her, I am having a girl, but I know I'm gonna need to keep her on a short leash with her and continue to remind her whose girl this is, lol.

I was pressured to have a boy. DH's fortune telling uncle told everyone that my first would be a boy, and that is exactly what people expected. My parents have 5 girls and always kept trying for a boy, so of course they wanted to have a grandson. On DH's side my LO is the only one who can continue to carry the family name. Talk about pressure!

My mom wanted a granddaughter my dad didn't care and I don't think my inlaws did either. My mom even bought the baby a pink rubber duck...we had a boy

@sarbear: lol my dad bought baby girl stuff! He was a bit crushed when we told him LO was a boy. He was like "maybe there are two in there?" he had had a dream that we had a little girl so he was sooo convinced.

I think both sets didn't care either way, but are thrilled that both sides are getting a granddaughter, after both already have two grandsons.
I think my parents deep down wanted a girl cause they knew how much I wanted one.

Not for the first child- it was nice to have a boy to carry on the family name, but really no preference either way. For the next one, my MIL is rabid for a girl since she has 3 grandsons. I'm more than happy to let my SIL provide a girl- I'd be happy to have all boys!

@septemberlove: that's funny. I'm preggers with #2 now...she already bought the baby a pink cupcake piggy bank. So we'll of she has to give that away too lol
