If so, what kinds of music did you play?
Did you buy headphones? Or did you use a stereo system and played it without headphones?

I used headphones. I'd listen to music while walking to and from my classes in college and have on headphone in my ear and tucked the other in my belly button. My daughter loved it.

I played music that I would generally listen to. I never used headphones though since amniotic fluid can carry sound very well. I believe it is now recommended not to use headphones on the belly since the baby can hear music played through a stereo just fine.

My husband got my belly buds for christmas when I was pregnant. I didn't play her music a lot, but we would usually do it together on lazy weekend mornings (sigh... lazy mornings... lol). We played a bit of everything but a lot of rap because that got her dancing the most

I did – LO used to go insanely wiggly in my belly when I played Amy Winehouse. She still likes Amy. I also played a lot of classical music while driving to and from work, to try to relax us both.
Also, DH read to LO *a lot* in utero. He just sat very near my belly and talked a little louder than usual, and read her all sorts of books and articles and things. It was pretty amazing – I went to a lecture series at about 8 months pregnant where DH was speaking and LO was pretty still for all the speakers. As soon as DH started speaking over the microphone, she started moving all around and bugging out!! Could have been a coincidence, but we like to think she heard dad’s familiar voice.

@yoursilverlining: that is so cool! I think she definitely knew her daddy's voice!
DH loves music so he heard plenty in utero but we never used headphones. DH plays around with recording software at home and played some tracks over and over. LO definitely recognized those!

Well, I listen to music sometimes, so I have continued to do that during pregnancy. But I haven't purposefully played music for the baby. I wouldn't use headphones because the amniotic fluid amplifies the sound and music that's too loud or too often can cause hearing issues. I don't go out of my way to avoid noisy stuff, but I also don't go out of my way to create a noisy environment in utero.

Not exactly, but the kids heard plenty of music in there if we put it on at home or go to a concert. I played guitar for DS too, but I can't do it for this baby because DS runs over screaming "mine! mine!" and grabs it for himself

She gets to hear whatever I'm listening to in the car or at home. I don't use headphones or anything. She should be hearing more soon. Looking forward to see if she likes anything in particular

@JenGirl: @Eko: Yeah, DH put headphones on my bump 2 weeks ago and it wasn't until the next day that I read that we shouldn't have done that. Also, what he was playing probably wasn't the best thing for the babies to hear. It was Pantera (heavy metal). I thought he was doing it for just the picture to show his friends but he told me afterwards that he was really playing it.
@yoursilverlining: That is so cool! DH would be in love if that happened.

Not with headphones but I used to listen to a lot of music whilst pregnant, he adores that sort of music now but it could just be coincidence!

Not explicitly, but I listened to music all the time when pregnant, and always sing along. I used to sing a specific song each day on my way home from work for the baby, and when she was brand new I sang it and she calmed right down. It was so special
