DH and I will be married for a year in December, and we still haven't ordered an album from our photographer. If you ordered one, do you think it's worth it? I believe our photographer charges $500 for the album (it's leather-bound and has really think pages). I really want to order one, I just don't want it to be a waste of money.

We did, and I definitely think it was worth it...it's really nice quality and the photo quality is also probably much better than we could have gotten on our own. That being said, it's not like we look at the album a ton--maybe a few times a year? But I'm definitely glad to have it, as I feel like it will last decades and still be in great condition.

We did not get ours through our photographer. We went with adoramapix.com since we had the rights to the photos. We bought it when they had a sale - so it was like 20% off as well. I am happy enough with the quality of it and more than happy with the price.

@hilsy85: I am really leaning towards buying one. I just feel like it'll be an album I will never get tired of looking at (even if it's only twice a year!)

We haven't yet. We will have one done on our own though. We own the rights to all our wedding photos, so we didn't have to rush into one right away. We just have had a lot going on. Maybe you could do one for your anniversary. First anniversary is paper, so it works!

I have a voucher for Photobook America that I have yet to still use! I think it expires in Jan --- need to get it done!

We didn't because they're usually overpriced (from the photog). We were married 2.5 years ago and I STILL haven't made our album (thru adoramapix....they're amazing)! Our photographer did have an album of our wedding made that she shows to potential clients and she has offered to sell it to us...

We bought the rights to the photos and made our own, through Picaboo. I would have used Adorama pix, but their website/software just wouldn't work on my old computer, but they seemed the best. Picaboo was really good too, but I can tell the difference between ours and a professional one. It's plenty good enough for me though, and was several hundred dollars cheaper.

No, I made a shutterfly book and gave it to my mom. We have digital copies for ourselves.

I like the idea of making your own photobook online! I was gonna say that's what I want to do sometime, so it's good to read a few people were happy with that...

My photographer included a CD and the plan was to make a photobook, but I just kept procrastinating! I ended up buying a album (on sale) from a local stationary store and stuck all the prints I had on that. I used photo corners to attach them and it looks pretty good. I'll save the photobook project for LO's 1st birthday.

Our photog gifted us one as an apology after she lost about 45 minutes of pics including our parent dances. Otherwise we would have made one on My Publisher, which is what we did for albums for our parents.

yep, we knew we wanted the album, so we had it included in our photographer's fee. it cost kind of a lot, but i think it was totally worth it. our album has a leather cover and thick pages with teeny tiny gutters.
keep in mind, you're not just paying for the album itself, the photographer also has to take the time to lay out all the pictures for each spread.

I think it's totally worth it...I'm so glad we got it, it's pretty amazeballs. The cover looks like a wraparound canvas.
Our package included a $450 album, and we upgraded to to a bigger/nicer package and I think we paid another $450 out of pocket. DH was VERY skeptical about whether we needed a $900 album, but even he was super impressed with it. I've never seen anything like it and everyone who comes to our house loves it (we have it as decoration on our media table).

Yup, it was part of the package we purchased. Totally worth it, in my opinion! It's absolutely gorgeous and the quality is amazing. We got smaller versions for our parents as Christmas gifts (I think those were about $250 each).

We did not. It just seemed so expensive. We got all the digital files on cd and I made our book on blurb. I loved their software as I got to make exactly what I wanted and I was able to include a lot more pictures than you can on a traditional album. So it was cheaper and more customized--I was so happy with it!

No, we didn't. I just couldn't fathom why we'd need one at the time. We own all of our photos and my husband is pretty good at Adobe Illustrator, so we could get one done for a lot less than what was available through the photographer.

Nope! But then again we got married at the courthouse with no friends or family present
I do think though that we will do an engagement-style shoot & small album for my parents & his mom. Someday, lol.

We got all of the images on Cd so I made my own on shutterfly. I figured I can always upgrade later, but we knew we wanted to ttc so we were saving our money. I did want some type of album though.... even though I admit we never look at it!

We did. It was part of the photography package. It's a really nice album with thick pages and they lay it out really well. We already spent so much on the wedding that it didn't really make sense to skimp out on the album. I love looking at it.

@softcream: The time I will spend making my own is the biggest reason I want to buy it from the photographer. I recently made a photo book of a vacation that DH and I took, and I spent days on it. I can't imagine how long I'd spend on our wedding album!
@jholler25: I emailed the photog to verify the price, but I agree with you and think it'll be worth it. She showed me a sample and it was amazing--the pages were so thick that they were almost hard! Like could not be bent at all. I had never seen an album like that!

our photography package came with one. i love ours! do we look at it often, no, but i'm still glad we have it.

@lawbee11: Exactly! That's what I love about it - it's so different than the normal print thickness! That's why DH quit complaining about the cost, he saw that it would last forever. The reason we "upgraded" was only to add pages because we had so many pics we wanted to use, but the one with the standard amount of pages had the same quality, so whatever you go with, I'm sure it'll be awesome!!! You won't regret it:)

I made mine from MyPublisher and I love it so much. It cost about $60 and if you put mine beside a $800 photographer one, I'd still pick mine. The quality is amazing, the pictures are laid out the way I want them, and it was fun to make! I'm going to be using them for a LOT of things. Family yearbooks, little one albums, to put their paintings/artwork, etc. in,

We purchased the images and made our own on Adoramapix. Maybe if we'd had tons of money to burn we'd have gone for a photographer's album, but then a lot of things would have been different about our wedding!
As it is, I like our album (esp. the fact that we had full creative control). I'm making a honeymoon album for Christmas this year.

Nope, we have all our photos on a disc with full control and made one from Shutterfly. Couldn't justify the expense and looking back our album I made is sitting in our coffee table.

Our photography package came with 3 albums (1 for us and 2 parent albums). The pictures that came out on our personal album was amazing!!! It brought the colors out unlike any other form of production. I'm so happy my package came with albums because I'm not sure I would have paid for an album outside of my package.

Our package came with one as well (which, over a year later- I don't have yet!) but we did order some through MyPublisher for the in-laws and my parents last Christmas... they were AWESOME! I plan on doing many more through MyPublisher. They always have great deals, too. The quality was phenomenal!

@lawbee11: Yeah the time is a huge thing-- I spent weeks working on it, but I enjoyed it. If I didn't enjoy doing it, I don't know that it would have been worth it.
Another note in general, some of the higher end make your own ones (like Adorama, Picaboo, vs Shutterfly or Snapfish) have lay flat options, which I knew I wanted. So i could actually still have a spread that went across two pages. But still, I'm not going to pretend mine is as good as a professional one, it's just close enough for me.

@jholler25: Do you know what size yours is? I got an email back from the photog and she said it's $500 for a 10 x 10 and $700 for a 12 x 12. Do you think it's worth the extra $ for the bigger one?

One came with our photography package but we upgraded a few hundred dollars for a better one. We love it! We don't look at it a ton but we have it out for people to look at and everyone has commented on how beautiful it is so I think it was worth it.

We didn't but I wish I had! I did a small one from Pinhole Press that I like but I'm not really a fan of the ones from Adorama, etc so I wish I had had my photog make us an album!

I put together a Blurb book forever ago, now I just need to offer it! This was not an option our photographer offered (nor would I have ordered it, it probably would have taken her 2 years at the rate she was going).

@lawbee11: mine is 10.5 x 10.5 and it's plenty big without being crazy large...My photog said she had just done a 12x12, and she couldn't get over the hugeness. I'll see if I can find the pic she emailed me, but basically she thought it was larger than life and too big to be on a table for display. The 12x12 was the same price (we paid extra for more pages) and we still chose the smaller... Let me go see what I can dig up...

An album was part of my package for an extra $700. I got pregnant and didn't want to think about the wedding anymore so chose to delay it. My photographer created a layout and I just needed to revise and approve it. I got married over two years ago. Oops!
