If yes, how soon after your baby was born did you send them?

yep it doubled as our holiday card that year as ds was a thanksgiving time baby. I sent it 2-3 weeks pp just days before Christmas.

I had my babyshower 6 weeks before my due date so I sent the announcement and thank you cards together at 2 weeks pp.

Nope. Im not big on paper goods (except thank yous and birthday/mothers day/fathers day cards). I think its kind of a waste of $$.

The hospital that we were at had a photographer go around taking new born pictures. We totally ordered one of the pricier packages that included I think 25 birth announcement cards along with digital rights and other prints.
Which we got in the mail about 4 weeks after the birth. We ended up mailing 20 of those to our closest friends and family but it wasn't enough... so we ended up e-mailing the rest.

i sent an email the day after he was born, but it wasn't a special birth announcement (like an e-card or paperless post)--just a text email with an attached picture.

Ain't nobody got time for that. We were just desperate to get an hour of uninterrupted sleep, let alone have time to make/order/address announcements.

I voted other. We sent Christmas cards and the back had a picture of just her (from our christmas photo shoot) and her birth info. We sent them 2 months after she was born.
I did order one (yes, just one) birth announcement though, to send to our OB office so I could get on the wall hahahahaha!

I wanted to but we got burnt out by the holidays and didn't get to it in time December baby problems?
Not to thread jack but, would it be weird to do it for our second baby? I feel like it will look like we prefer one over the other

Yep, we sent them I think 3 weeks after her birth via mail. In hindsight probably not necessary, but soooo cute.

We sent a mass Bcc: email the day he was born. (He was born at 1am so there was time later to do it.)

@Caly: One thing I've seen recommended is having the announcements ready for print (just needing the name, date of birth, weight, ect put on) and the envelopes addressed before baby is born so it's not too much hassle after baby is here!

I had the template ready to go in photoshop and had them out at about a month. I did the photos myself and just had them printed. I also addressed the envelopes early (with peel and sticks) so all I had to do was stuff them

@pui: that's very smart & doable! In the beginning it was simply survivor mode...perhaps if we have another I'll be better prepared!

I sent them out about a month after LO was born...I probably only had 10 to send/give out though. I found one I liked on Etsy, emailed the shop the picture I wanted to use & then all I had to was mail it out. Easy peasy

It was about 2 months after he was born that I mailed them out. We had a disc with our newborn photos, but my husband's computer couldn't read the disc & I don't have a disc drive so we needed to put them on my parents' computer then transfer them so it took longer than I would have liked.
I ordered them through Costco. The quality is amazing (very similar to Tiny Prints) for a great price ($18/25). I ordered 1 set thinking that was enough, but I missed some friends we wanted to give one too so I ended up having to order a set set. So some of them went out a little later than the first batch.

I didn't send out announcements for my first but sent them out for my second. I think it was about 6 weeks after.

I only ordered 10, mainly because I wanted one for myself, and handed them out to our closest family/friends.

@mrsjyw: same. LO was a November baby so we just did a combo announcement/Christmas card. Baby #2 is due December 3rd so I'm hoping to do the same but that may be unrealistic

Yes and I handed them out as part of the party favors at DS's one month celebration. For out of town guests and people that couldn't make the party, I mailed them the week of his party.
