I'm debating whether to send out birth announcements or not. I feel like if I post it on facebook everyone will pretty much know! Did you send out announcements? Why or why not?

Yep, mainly because I wanted to do something with the newborn photos I had done!

We did because I wanted to send one to my RE's office to pin up as a success. No reason other than that!

We just put a small status on FB. Everyone close to us got calls, texts, or emails before.
We did use one of his nb pictures as our holiday card 6 months later, though.

Yes because the only thing better than getting snail mail is snail mail with pictures. {Plus my older relatives aren't on Facebook.}

Nope. I confess that I totally planned on doing this - I even ordered them! But the idea of addressing that many envelopes while caring for a newborn was just not happening.

yup! I liked the look of them, and we have a lot of extended family in other states that we're not friends with on FB.

No, we thought it would be redundant bc we sent out an email + fb post. I made thank you cards w a photo so some ppl got a snail mail pic!

Yep, we sent them out as a birth announcement/Christmas card combo (He was born mid-November). I wanted to use our newborn photos!

I voted yes, because we will do them. I just want to because I love getting them! And I'll try to pick a design that can be framed or has a picture that can be cut out and framed, so that family members who want pictures can get them that way.
@wonderstruck: Oh, I'm glad you said that! I'll have to be sure and figure out what size we'll use when the time comes soon, and get them addressed before she gets here. Or convince DH to buy a printer so I can just print out labels.

We did - for all sorts of reasons - I love getting/sending snail mail and I love paper goods, I have a fair amount of relatives that are not on FB and my mom wanted to send some to her friends, I wanted to use the newborn photos.

I love having it as a memento and we wrote a thank you note on them for folks who visited/brought gifts.

Yes. I'm a sucker for paper goods. We have one framed in her nursery.
@wonderstruck: @Torchwood: Minted addressed them for us. We uploaded our address list, and they arrived pre-addressed. We just had to stuff, stamp and send.

LO was born in November so I did a combined Christmas/birth announcement.

No. I figured with fb it was kind of unnecessary.

No. I've never known anyone IRL send them out...I think with FB it's become unnecessary.

Yes. We have friends and family all over and not everyone is online. I also think it's nice to receive them!

Yes. I'm a traditionalist about announcements. most of our family doesn't do the internet.

I didn't because I don't know enough people to justify sending them to, so I didn't see it as worthwhile. It's also not really the sort of thing my hubby and I are in to. We didn't have a baby shower either.

Yes! Partly because I wanted the keepsake. But the other reason is half my family isn't on the internet.

I'm a pretty private person on FB so I didn't announce or post anything about DS's birth. Family and friends that came to visit us at the hospital made the announcement for us by posting pics of them with the baby.
