I am thinking we should do the infant CPR course again. But i don't need to take all the prenatal classes on L&D like i did last time. I don't remember much of the details., but i don't think it helped me much last time either as i ended up with a c-section.
I did see a private class on preparing for a VBAC which i may sign up for.
What did you do to prep for birth the second time? any classes?

Yea.... We didn't do anything. Oops. But it was fine. And I had a vbac for my 2nd birth too. I talked with my midwife a lot about it but didn't prep much otherwise. I don't regret it at all!

I'm not planning on taking any classes this go round. However, I'm kind (jokingly) of tempted to sign up for the birthing class again so DH can get refreshed on all the massaging techniques that are helpful/useful during labor. Like if I have back labor pains, doing this technique helps relieve some of the pressure, etc. Totally selfish reasons.

@creativemomma15: i have a midwife too so i am not sure i will need to pay for a class. I am hoping my midwives can help prepare me, but i like to be as prepared as possible!
@Alivoo01: haha, i was tempted to take some of the old classes again too because i think all the discussion about potential PPD scared DH last time and he was so careful to make sure i was happy all the time in the early weeks, lol. it was cute to see him trying so hard (and nice).
I am also planning to do a hospital tour of the prenatal unit since we are delivering in a different hospital this time.

@californiadreams: tour is a good idea! Because I had no idea where the maternity ward was at the hospital!! Didn't want to have to worry about where the heck I should go if I was in labor and what not.

We won't do any classes. This isn't our first rodeo (3rd baby). However, our hospital (very large hospital campus) we deliver at just opened a new Mothers Hospital (opening January) which is supposed to be amazing! We will schedule a tour since we are not familiar with the new women's hospital.

Nope, not a thing. I was having a RCS and didn't feel the need. I'm CPR certified so I'm comfortable with infant CPR through that.

We took a tour of the hospital since we'd relocated between the two deliveries. Otherwise, no.

I took a tour because we were at a new hospital. DH refused to go and it was a point of tension. And then when I was in labor LO was almost born in the car because we were parked in the wrong spot. Grr.
We were told to take CPR when LO was 6 months. I did with #1 but I'll probably watch YouTube for #2.

@californiadreams: The hospital said choking was by far the biggest reason to take the class. Baby is unlikely to choke before the introduction of solids and before they have coordination to put something in their mouths. They thought 6 months, when baby starts eating and becomes mobile, was better since parents are unlikely to remember what they learned before the newborn haze. I kind of doubt many parents go back at 6 months and take the class.
Seems like having a helpful LO1 may increase the chances of LO2 choking in the early days so the advice may not apply to subsequent LOs.

@Corduroy: ya i definitely see both sides. The reason i want to take the class again is because i don't feel i remember everything or would really know what to do anymore. And I also can't see myself going back to the class when i have a six month old infant, i'd probably forget!

We didn't do anything this time. I do see the mileage in a class to support you with preparing for a vbac. But this wasn't important to me so we didn't.

No, although I'd like to do a tour since it's not the hospital where Evan was delivered. We did sign HIM up for a sibling class, though.

We took a CPR/first aid class a few weeks ago to prep for LO2. I'm really glad we did. I was thinking about calling to get a hospital tour since we moved in between pregnancies but I have been slacking on that. I'm 36 weeks now. Incidentally, we took the CPR class at a smaller hospital than where this baby will actually be born.
