We took road trips up and down the East Coast during family vacations, but only left the country once between Kindergarten and college: my mom took us to Japan for a summer to stay with her brother. It was a pretty incredible experience, and makes me wonder if we'll ever be able to do something similar with our kids. It feels so daunting to think about taking a whole summer off like that!

We had usually 2 family vacations per year with some random trips to visit out of town family.

I traveled a ton before the age of 4 because my aunts were travel agents, and I just tagged along wherever they went. Mostly to singapore, malaysia, hong kong... that region... because I was raised in Taiwan. I think that's one of the reasons why I can fall asleep anywhere and sleep so well. Sometimes I think I'm narcoleptic haha.

Yes we traveled a lot. We usually did a big vacation every year and then smaller, 3 day weekend type trips throughout the year somewhere more local. Also during many summers my grandparents would take me on vacation for about a month somewhere. We'd rent a house or cabin somewhere where there were a lot of possible activities like a beach or lake.

We mostly took bus tours along the east coast. It was not the best way to travel for me. Even to this day, I hate taking buses. One summer, my parents sent my sister and I to hong kong and stay with my aunt and her family. That was my favorite trip in my youth. Perhaps, my kids can have the same experience one day.

Not a lot with my parents--a few times to Disney Land, once to Disney World-- but my grandparents took us to the east coast, and to Europe a few times. I travelled a bit with DH when we first met, to the Bahamas and Japan. I can't wait for our LOs to be old enough to travel, it's my favorite! I think around 10 is when they can fully appreciate the experience.

The only trips we took were to visit family. Some beach trips but not many. My parents couldn't afford vacations.

We went on 3 week road trips through the eastern provinces and camped along the way every summer. We traveled internationally (to the States) twice.

We only took one family vacation to Colorado when I was 5. I took lots of other trips as a teen but not with my parents.

Yes we did and we try to do the same with our LO(s). We took a nearly 2 month long roadtrip with our then 5 month old last year. Time spent together that I'd not like to miss in a million years.

i have no idea what would be a lot! when we were young we spent time on the cape a few times a year (i have family that lives there), my mom & her siblings would usually rent a house at the beach in maine for a wk during the summer so we'd go there with my cousins & grandparents, then we'd go on one bigger wk long vacation each year (disney, grand canyon, washington DC, places like that in the US, didn't travel outside the US until i was a teen, went with school groups, didn't travel abroad with my parents until we all went to oxford to bring my brother for school). we'd have other little trips (camping or a few days away to go shopping somewhere) and sometimes i'd get to go to CA to stay with my aunt during school vacation. At the time, it seemed like i traveled more than most of my friends, but it was nothing compared to how i see many kids travel now!

Mostly just road trips up and down the east coast. I think I took two plane trips before high school: once to Korea when I was four, and once to Disney World when I was 7 or 8. But other than that, crazy caravaning with uncles and aunts to New York, Toronto, the Carolinas, etc.

Yes, we lived overseas for several years. We even lived in our VW months for several months in Europe. They gave the bus to us a few years back (see photo). We will carry on the tradition. We went to national parks and did lots of camping, but when we were younger. It tapered off when my sister was HS age and got into cheerleading. They always went to destinations like Hawaii or New Mexico and left us with Grandparents and alone when we were older. My Dad was a travel agent. They travel a ton now. We have been to Hawaii together 2 years in a row, once with my sisters family recently.

Not out of the country until I was 13, but we traveled a fair amount in the US. Mostly to see family, but there were also some beach vacations and general siteseeing vacations. We got to fly for free on Standby since my dad was a pilot--but I have a huge family, so it took some maneuvering.

We traveled a lot. Mom was a SAHM until I was 10 or so and dad owned his own business so he could take off if he wanted. We traveled a lot more than DH and I will be able to. Two week vacation to mexico plus multiple week long trips elsewhere? Never gonna happen

When we were little vacation was mostly to see family up north. As we got older we also did relaxing beach vacations and sight seeing vacations

No. I flew for the first time in college and I've never been to Disney World or Land. My parents traveled a ton before they got married, so I'm not really sure why we didn't travel more as a family. It's very important to me that we travel often with LO, especially once she's old enough to make memories!

No, we pretty much never traveled. My parents didn't have a lot of money. I flew for the first time at 18 with DH. I hope I'm able to travel with my children.

Yep. My dad is a professor and attended statistical conferences around the world, and my mom only worked per diem, so she could take off whenever she needed for as long as she wanted. We traveled every other summer to Taiwan and spent the summer until we left for college, and in the off years, we always attended the conferences with my dad, which were both in domestic and international locations. It was pretty awesome! I won't be able to travel as extensively with my children, but do hope to take them on trips as often as we are able to.

Yup! Dad took us to every of the 48 states and every.single.college.campus! (That he thought was "good enough" of a school. He actually had a list!!!!!)

We travelled a ton, still do. We did a lot of camping in the northwest as well.

Not a lot. We did a weekend in Toronto once and then a week at Disney world, but no other big trips. We had a cottage in the fingerlakes (still have it) and we went there for most vacations.

We did a lot of road trips. The beach every summer and long weekends to historical sites around the northeast. We never went too far though.
