I did with Charlie and I didn't get any stretch marks. But I didn't this time around and so far so good. My mom didn't get stretch marks so I think she just passed those genes down to me.
My friend told me his wife used cream religiously for her first pregnancy and didn't get any stretch marks, but then didn't use it at all for her second pregnancy and got really bad stretch marks.
Did anyone use stretch mark cream and have it work/not work for them?

For Mavi, I used cream throughout the pregnancy and got major stretchmarks around 35 weeks. I was so sad. In my case, it can't be genes, because my mom gained 60 lbs pregnant of me and didnt have 1 stretch mark. So sad (for me)

I've just been using Spectrum coconut oil from the cooking aisle at Whole Foods. Another mom suggested it to me and at 26 weeks and 23 lbs heavier, I haven't gotten them.....yet. @Blushink: I will be so sad if they come late in the pregnancy, too.....keeping my fingers crossed!

I used stretch mark cream whenever I could remember with the first pregnancy (which was about every other day), and I got some scant ones on either sides of my hips.
With this pregnancy I haven't used any and I didn't get any.
I really think that genetics has a HUGE factor, because my mom tells me that she got them in the SAME exact places when she was pregnant with me! And with her, they've all faded within a few years so I'm hoping the same with me.

I've been using stretch mark cream and I just started getting stretch marks (almost 39 weeks), but they really aren't that bad.

i bought stretch mark cream but only used it once or twice. i got really lazy (i'm lazy with lotion too... so bad i know), but i didn't get any stretch marks. i think it's a genetic thing cuz my mom was the same way.

I did, but still got a good amount of stretch marks. They didn't start until closer to week 25 if I remember correctly. It bugs me, but I realized it's not like something I can change. I actually found this on Pinterest and it made me feel a lot better.

I just stuck with my pre-pregnancy routine of Vaseline Intendive Care lotion all over the body, but started using a little more on the belly in the second trimester when it got bigger. Tried Palmers one day and couldn't stand the smell so I stopped. I'm 40w 1d and no stretch marks yet! My mom got really stretch marks from all 3 kids, so not so sure of the hereditary thing. I just tried to make sure belly was never dry and rubbed in lotion in a circular motion.

I haven't used anything special. I put on some Vit E body butter when I'm feeling itchy or tight, but haven't been consistent. I'm 35 weeks and don't have any major marks yet (just some pale ones that are hard to see).
Everything I've read says that you're either going to get them or you aren't and no amount of expensive creams can change it.

I always wondered if stretch mark cream really works. It's nice to read the responses. Sounds like it's something to at least try.

I've been using belly oil in the morning, and then vaseline with cocoa butter in it at night. It actually feels really good on the tummy. I don't know if I totally buy into the belly creams and lotions, but I fig it's worth a shot. Then if I do get them, I can at least say I tried.

I used it occasionally at the beginning of my pregnancy but stopped completely by the end of the second trimester. It was summer and hella hot during my third trimester, and I just felt like a greased pig if I put any lotion on. I didn't get any stretch marks (neither did my mom in either of her pregnancies).

I used a couple of different stretch mark creams & didn't get any stretch marks. I don't know if the creams worked or if I just got lucky. One thing I think helped a lot was that I drank TONS of water & Sobe Lifewater everyday, so I was very hydrated. I will use the cream in future pregnancies, just because hey, maybe it helped!

I used lots of stretch mark cream (cocoa butter) throughout the pregnancy and still ended up with a LOT of really bad, deep stretch marks. I'm talking hundreds, if you wanted to try and count. They have definitely faded in color 2 years later (they used to be purple and red, and now they're white), but the skin is still extremely uneven and damaged over my entire belly. It's the worst under my belly button. I used Bio Oil afterwards and it seemed to help a bit, but I did a LOT of research and the bottom line seems to be that 1) it's genetic, 2) if you're gonna get them, there's no way to avoid them, and 3) there's very little you can do to reduce them afterwards. I read hundreds of message board entries of people who got them during growth spurts-- all up and down their backs and arms and legs. So considering I never wear bikinis, I guess stretch marks on my belly isn't as bad as those people (a lot were guys!).
I already forced Rob Sr. to agree to let me have laser skin therapy way after we are done having kids. It's the only proven way to treat them.

I use an all natural oil which is suppose to promote elasticity in skin. I put that on every morning (it's light so it doesn't feel greasy) and have been pairing it with some leftover deep repair cream lotion I had on hand. My mom never had any stretch marks and my fingers are crossed that I'm the same way.

Studies have shown that they don't work... BUT, everyone in my family has stretch marks and I don't. I used Aquafor on my belly twice a day every single day (until I developed an allergy to it). When I developed the allergy I switched to a lotion I picked up in Hawaii a couple of years ago. No stretch marks, but I don't know if it was the lotion or not.

No stretch marks here, my mom never had any either, so maybe genetic for me. I used the Bert's Bees Mama Bee lotion a couple of times a week when I felt itchy or remembered.
I did try Bio Oil one time, about half an hour before my water broke. I opened up a free sample, slathered it on, sat on the couch, and soon enough I shifted and POP! No way was there any relation to that, but I found it pretty funny.

@Tina, well this makes me feel better. I was so good about using creams, but last 3 weeks some tiny angry red lines have surfaced and made me super sad. Well, at least there's some solution (lasering those sucker off!)

@Clementine: yup! I've been grilling our plastic surgeon friend about it. Honestly, I did everything to avoid them, and I got the worst case I have ever seen or ever thought was possible. It made me really sad for a while. I even did this crazy exfoliation/moisturization process for a few days to try and get rid of them.... all it did was make my skin really angry 
My photographer friend wanted to take belly shots of me, but I refused. He was like, "photoshop!" But I couldn't stand the idea of even looking at an altered photo of my destroyed belly skin.
But I've finally accepted that there's just nothing I can do other than wait til they fade as much as possible and then take care of the worst of it with lasers

I am using palmers, I know it is still early and it may not help but I am terrified of a stretch-marked belly. Even if it doesn't work I am enjoying the smell of the lotion.

I already have old stretch marks all over my breasts, hips, thighs and stomach from growth spurts growing up, they are all pretty much invisible unless you look really closely, so I assume I will get them once I get bigger with this pregnancy. I just moisturize when I feel tight for comfort move than anything, because I know you can't beat them if you are pre-disposed to them.

I only have a couple from growth spurts, none from pregnancy so far. I do use lotion every day, but that's more because my belly, hips, and lower back are SO itchy if I don't!
