First off, we have not et told DS1 (almost 4) that we're pregnant. However, I'm sure he has overheard us and/or figured it out. We are waiting until after we get NIPT results next week to share with him. DS2 is only 16 months and has no clue what's going on, obviously.
But DS1 keeps talking about getting another baby...specifically a SISTER. A few weeks ago, he came downstairs in the morning and said "I heard I'm getting a sister." I asked him where he heard that and he said he made it up. I explained to him that we aren't having another baby yet, but if we do, it could be a boy. To which he responded "But I already have a brother."
This week, we were playing in DS2's room and DS1 looked around and started tapping his chin. Then said "Hmmm. Where should we put my sister's bed?" Again, I told him that we weren't having another baby yet, but when we do, we can't choose whether it's a boy or a girl, and it could be a boy! To which he said "well this time I want to choose and it should be a sister."
Obviously we don't know the sex of this baby yet, but we will next week. I already have 2 boys and just have a feeling this baby will also be a boy. How would you break the news to your child if they really wanted a specific sex, but you were having the other??
