I actually don't remember my childhood so I don't really know... But I do tell my daughter I love her every chance I get because I feel like it is really important for her to know that.

We said "love you" a fair amount, but I see that my husband and I say it an awful lot, like well over a dozen times a day.

We said it and still say it often - life is short and you just never know when it will be the last time! My husband and I say it every day to each other before he goes to work and before we go to sleep.

I love yous were never a part of my childhood growing up. Neither were hugs or kisses but I always knew my parents loved us. I will definitely make an effort with my future little one to show tons of affection though

No, like typical Chinese people, my parents did not. But I say it constantly to my LO. I joked to my SO the other day that my LO is only 18 months but she has probably already heard the L word from me more times than I have heard from my own mother. So there has definitely been inflation!

Nope. We weren't big huggers/kissers/I love you'ers. As I've gotten older, I've worked on that and now it's not so painful when friends hug me and I'm more huggy with my parents. We still don't say I love you much but I'm ok with that. I always felt the love even if it wasn't said.

Unlike the stereotype of Korean dads, my dad was huge on this when we were growing up. I don't recall my mom verbalizing as much, but her actions spoke volumes every day. Now that we're older, they don't get off the phone without my brother or I saying ILY. They also always leave with a hug, cheek peck, and ILY from DH.

My parents never told me they loved me when I was growing up. It was probably a cultural thing. My mother used to tell me that people show their love in actions-- therefore I was well-fed, warmly clothed, and was never left for wanting much-- which proved she and my father loved me. Still, I wish I heard it more often growing up. I drop the L-bomb all the time with the baby and also to my parents and other family members. I make it a point to tell them so they know.

My parents NEVER said "I love you" to me when I was a kid. NEVER EVER. My mom started saying it to us when we were older, like in university. To this day, my dad has never uttered those words. He's too Korean to verbalize any emotion. If he ever did say it to me, I would feel uncomfortable!

My parents told us they loved us quite frequently. My DH and I say 143 to e/o at least a dozen times a day. We tell our LO that we love her maybe 30-40 times a day? HAHA. Lots of love in this house.

Yup, everyday. Even when talking on the phone to my mom we still say I love you (we live a few hours apart so we don't see each other that often). My husband and I say I love you several times a day.

Like other posters with Chinese (or asian) parents, "I Love You', hugs, and kisses was not a common occurence. Hubby's side of the family are all about the ILY and hugs, so it was a huge learning curve, and adjustement.

The only person who ever said I love you to us growing up was our grandparents. I had pretty bad parents though...
