Or was he/she more partial to other places to lay/fall asleep?

LO ALWAYS fell asleep in her swing during the first 3 months or so of her life.
Then she stopped sleeping in it.

DS hated the swing. I was so happy that I bought ours used for $46 because we only used it a handful of times in the 6 months we had it. I ended up selling it.

It was great for months 2-4 ... Before then he'd snooze anywhere, and after I wanted to make sure he started taking all his naps in the crib.

He doesnt mind the swing, but he prefers to be put in his carseat and DH swings him in that. Usually calms him right down/puts him to sleep

we didn't use it much for charlie. olive slept in it when she was really little for a very short time... maybe a couple weeks. then she would never fall asleep in it but she liked playing in it.

I soooo wish my DS was one of those babies that would fall asleep for hours in his swing! But alas, he can swing away wide-eyed in the dark for 20+ minutes! At least it was free and he doesn't totally hate it!

LO was indifferent. She was generally content in the swing, but I don't think it ever put her to sleep.

Did you all put newborns in the swing? DD is 3 weeks old tomorrow and her daddy keeps saying she needs to be bigger before we use it.

We didn't really use it for playing but did use it for naps or if he had a terrible cold or ear ache and needed to sleep upright we'd use the swing. It was definitely a favorite item in our house.

The only way DS will tolerate the swing is if I put him in it 90% asleep and swaddled. Otherwise, he'll hang out for like 5 minutes and then scream.

@Honeybee: Ditto that. The swing is nearly useless for us!

DD absolutely loved her swing! We got so much use out of that the first 4 months of her life!

Initially I didn't want a swing, they are too big. But at 1 month old, someone gave us a hand-me down swing. Up till then, LO only slept in the Moby, but once we got the swing, he slept in the swing until he was 6mo old. Definatly would get a swing if we have a #2.

Our LO hated the swing. She would start crying every time we tried to put her in it. We eventually gave up and put it away.

LOVED IT! My child adored her swing. It was really what kept me sane during the first few months of her life. It was the only place she liked to be that wasn't my arms.

LO slept in the swing for months. She didn't like it unless it was nap time though.
