My parents were old school and slept in their room and I slept in mine. I didn't even know cosleeping was a thing until I saw it on TV!
Did your parents ever cosleep with you?

Yep! They lived in a 3 bedroom apt with my aunt and uncle when I was born. They coslept out of necessity. With my brother too.

Yup. Embarrassingly enough I was old enough to remember the circumstances of when they stopped.
grapefruit / 4056 posts
Yep, they had an "open bed for the kids" policy! We could climb in and snuggle whenever we wanted!
pomegranate / 3565 posts
Yes - totally normal for us. My brother slept with them the longest. I only went in there if I had a bad dream, was sick, or there was a thunderstorm. I guess that's why I'm ok with my boys sleeping with me.
persimmon / 1481 posts
Yes only with me though. My mom was so exhausted when my brother and sister were newborns that she nursed me in bed and let me sleep next to her.
blogger / wonderful cherry / 21628 posts
No. I wasn't allowed in their room. They co slept with my brother and sister.
nectarine / 2220 posts
As a rule no, but I remember being allowed to come in if I had a nightmare or something. And my mom laughed when I brought home all the literature that says to NEVER SLEEP WITH YOUR BABY from the health unit, so I'm guessing she did it on occasion when I was a newborn.
honeydew / 7444 posts
No, only because they worked in the evenings. My sis and I slept with out grandma on 2 beds pushed together.
pomegranate / 3706 posts
Nope. I can't recall a single time ever snuggling in bed with them.
pomegranate / 3438 posts
When I was 3-6 I would wake up when my dad left for work at 3:30am and go sleep with my mom. They never coslept when I was a baby because I was a preemie and on a heart monitor for the first 6 months.

I was too young to remember but I think I only went to their bedroom when I had a bad dream or felt sick.
I did grow up with an older sister that took care of us, I might have tried to see her if I didn't want to bother my parents.

Only when I was scare for some reason and only if they were in a good mood! Half the time, my mom would walk me back to my room and out me back in my own bed.
Sometimes I would creep into my older sister's room and sleep with her!
nectarine / 2272 posts
No. Way. We weren't really even allowed in their room. If we were scared or sick, they came in and tucked us into bed and stayed with us. On weekend mornings, we all hung out down in the living room. We never got in their bed.
honeydew / 7283 posts
Nope. I remember sleeping at the foot of their bed in a sleeping bag if I had a bad dream, but I have no memories of being in their bed. I don't think they did as newborns either.
cantaloupe / 6885 posts
Not generally....I do remember crawling in with them in the middle of the night if I was having a bad dream but that wasn't too often.

Yes, until I was 7 I slept in my parents bed, by then it was pretty much just my mom and I. My dad slept in the guest room. On Christmas Eve I always had to sleep in my own bed and I happily complied. The only reason my mom and I stopped co-sleepinh was because my brother was born. He didn't stay in her bed nearly as long as me.
I will not co-sleep with my own kids though!
wonderful cherry / 21504 posts
I don't think I ever did, or my older brother or sister. But my younger sister was very high needs and my mother broke her "never sleep with the baby in your bed" rule for her out of necessity. She swore up and down she would never... Until my sister would not sleep outside of my moms arms for a year.
wonderful grape / 20453 posts
I don't remember, so I must've been really young if they did.
We did on vacation, though!
persimmon / 1196 posts
My mom coslept with me on a mattress in the nursery when I was a baby and still feeding in the MotN.
When I was older, I'd sometimes go into their room when I wasn't feeling well, but they only let me sleep on the floor next to their bed (a hardwood floor, too, so there's wasn't much incentive to do that unless I *really* needed to be near them).
cantaloupe / 6630 posts
Never. Because of space though, my two youngest sisters slept in their room until we moved to a three bed house (one in a crib and one on an air bed).
pomelo / 5257 posts
Not really, except when I was very little I'd go to my mom's side of the bed in the middle of the night and ask to sleep with them "for a little while." My mom would pull me in and my dad would have no idea till morning, haha.
pomegranate / 3314 posts
No way. Although my parents divorced when I was young and occasionally I would sneak into my mom's bed and she would let me stay. But both my parents and in-laws are of the opinion that in a marriage the bed should be a space just for the couple.
honeydew / 7622 posts
I hardly went in their bedroom at all, especially not to cuddle/co sleep. It's funny, I think they are now more physically affectionate with me as an adult then I ever remember as a child.
clementine / 770 posts
I don't think I did. Definitely not if my dad was home. I have a feeling me and dh will be much more open to morning snuggles and bad dream comforting.
grapefruit / 4006 posts
Yes, all 3 if us! I was the youngest so no one kicked me out so I slept with my parents until i was 8. My siblings all co sleep with their kids too. We are the only ones that haven't done it fully. We sometimes cosleep with our toddler and dd2 cosleeps with me right now (8 weeks old).
pomegranate / 3375 posts
I had a lot of nightmares as a kid. My parents had a king size waterbed (ohhhhh 1980's) ... I would curl up at the very bottom of it most nights.
Once I had a "big girl" bed, my mom would lay in my room with me until I fell asleep.
persimmon / 1071 posts
@mrbee: I remember when I was young I would crawl into bed with my mom and dad when I had a bad dream, but I would usually wake up in my own bed again haha.
nectarine / 2053 posts
Yep, I was always afraid to sleep alone! My mom and biological father got divorced when I was young so I often slept with my mom until she got remarried and my step dad wasn't a fan. I remember crying in the hall one night because I was too afraid to sleep by myself. I ended up making a pallet in the floor of my brothers room until I just finally slept in my own bed! I think it was because my mom watched a lot of scary movies with me and my brother when we were young

Nope. They would lay with me sometimes until I fell asleep and other times I would crawl in with them if I had a bad dream, but no, not otherwise.
