My parents made sure that we ate healthy home-cooked meals three times a day. We always ate dinner together as a family. They exposed us to a wide variety of food. We usually ate what they ate, though they did cook some special foods for us since they didn't eat american food. Dessert was always fruit.
But they also didn't ban things like candy, chocolate, chips, sugary cereals.... since we ate healthy meals, they didn't mind snacks (though they didn't buy us soda often).
Yet I don't really have good eating habits in my adult life. My parents still do. But I'm a snacker. Something about the American culture that encourages snacking!
Did your parents instill good eating habits? Do you have good eating habits now?
