My Mom used Pampers on me but my MIL cloth diapered all three of her kids. I think she used flats, covers and safety pins. She is amazed by the AIO and pocket styles that we have for LO!

Yep, we were allergic to disposables. She used flats, pins, and pull on covers.

Yup! Flat ones, diaper pins, and rubber pants! My dad remembers pinning my leg by accident once!

Yep, flats, covers, and pins! My mom is so jealous of our cute little easy to use BumGenius

They used cloth on my older sister (safety pins and the whole 9 yards!) but disposibles for me.

Yes! They complained about it and sometimes still do! I remember we still had some of the stuff when I was a kid. Cloth pieces like burp cloths, safety pins, and plastic underwear! They were about saving money but I'd hate that method too!

We were all cloth diapered...when I was born, my grandparents paid for a year (I think) of a diaper service, which my mom loved.

Yep! Flats, pins and covers. Everyone thought my Mom was nuts (she's crunchy like me).

Yes, the ones with the safety pins... they lasted a week using them after I was born, which is probably why they are so negative whenever I mention wanting to CD.

Yup. I had hip dysplasia and they had to triple diaper me. It was with pins, etc. they lived in an apartment and the laundry was on the bottom floor and they were on the top floor. : /

flats and pins as well for me! when my brother was born i think they used sposies.

Yes! Both hubs and I. My MIL still doesn't quite 'get' our new cloth diapets. But my mom is in love with them. I actually have scars on both of my hips from where the diaper pins rubbed while I had the chicken pox!

Cloth diapers for the first 5 of is (I think because we had less money then) and disposables for my little sister who was born in'86.
wonderful pea / 17279 posts
Yes, but not the entire time. I had the ones that looked like burp cloths and we're fastened with a safety pin.

Yep! Flats & pins. Dad once told me he "forgot" to take out the diaper pail for a while .... And when he opened the lid there were maggots. >_<

Yes, she always told me she didn't want paper diapers on my tushy. So now I use cloth because I feel like I should..... Even though I know disposables are much better now.

Yeah my mum used flat terry toweling nappies with nappy pins! It was the norm, really, when I was born in 1981. She did buy some disposables once - Pampers - and they didn't stick properly so she sent a letter of complaint. Well, Pampers sent her a huge box of nappies and a roll of sellotape as their response!!!!! She thought it was hilarious but never bought disposables again once she'd used them up!

No. My stepmom used them on my brother and sister.

Yep. My mom had a diaper service for it, too, so that she didn't have to do any washing for them.

I just found this out! Mom used cloth, but dad refused, so when he changed me, I got disposable
blogger / eggplant / 11551 posts
nope, i was a disposable baby (hmm, that didn't quite come out right....)....

DH and I were both cloth diapered. My parents used sposies on my younger siblings though. I remember as a child finding the huge safety pins around the house and using the flats as dust rags...

both our parents did. My mom remember's hers fondly because like me she did research and had the most awesome diapers she could find

Yes, they started with disposables, but I was allergic-like my LO- and then they went cloth.

yes, my brothers and i were cloth diapered....but not the fancy kind. i think disposables were too expensive.

No. My mother-in-law used them, though, and was glad to hear we're planning on cloth as well.
GOLD / wonderful apricot / 22276 posts
I think maybe for a while...I'm going to ask for sure though!

Yep, me and my siblings were all in cloth (flats, pins and rubber pants) my Mom is amazed by my pockets and hybrid fitteds! My MIL used disposables I believe.
eggplant / 11287 posts
Yep! All five of us kids were. The same kind @arden mentioned...with the pins!!
wonderful cherry / 21504 posts
Nope. My mom thought disposable were the greatest invention ever in the history of the world! I think my brother was in cloth (flat, with pins) before disposables became mainstream. They are the opposite of "crunchy" but didn't have a ton of money when they were staring out.
