There's that old saying that men marry a younger version of their mother.
I've never really believed it, but one thing I've always liked about my mom is that she is a strong woman with a big personality. So it's no surprise that I was drawn to Mrs. Bee.

Ummm, maybe? His mother passed away from cancer when he was only 13, so it's hard to compare. But she was strictly a SAHM, quite the homemaker, and very crafty (sewing, etc). I'm currently a SAHM, (but won't be after our LO is old enough for school) and although I don't have a crafty bone in my body, I enjoy the cooking/baking for my family aspect of being a homemaker.
Sorta? Lol.

In a way, yes. His mother and I are anxious, worry warts. But that's basically the only thing that's similar between the two of us.

Very similiar. Even down to our clothing size. Even down to when our clothing sizes change (i.e. we gain or lose weight)

Nope! We could not be anymore different. But I feel like DH has some qualities that my dad has...but he is actually like my grand father more than anyone else.

In a few ways but I would have to say its more likely that our similarities are due to the fact we are women lol... We get along just fine but we are very different too. I have more of a "fun" personality than she does.

I am definitely like my MIL in the sense that we are both givers and caretakers of the family+extended family. We are also both OCD; which has caused a few tense moments between us, but thankfully nothing dramatic.

I don't think I'm that similar to my MIL at all, but over the years I have noticed many similarities between DH and my dad.

Nope...It's probably more accurate for me to say that I married his mother. Their personalities are so incredibly similar. I think that I married my father/brothers, I'm super close with the men in my family and my husband has a lot of the same characteristics.

Yes and no. We're both Jewish, so we have a lot of the same morals and values. We're both pretty artsy fartsy. But she's way more of a talker than I am.

We aren't anything alike thank goodness, but DH is divorced and his first wife certainly was. My DH is super similar to my Dad. I didn't notice it when we first started dating, but now it's very apparent.

HECK no. MIL is a Jehovah's Witness. I....am entirely opposite. We'll leave it at that.
But..my DH did marry his FIL

Nope. His Mom is such a compassionate person. She was a nurse before she became a SAHM. I am nothing like her.

He would say that we're both very sweet/giving, but I am much more opinionated than she is, and much less traditional. I don't think we're very similar at all.

No way. MIL tries to say we are so much alike, but we are far from it. We butt heads a lot because of it.

DH's mom is very distant emotionally, rarely shows genuine affection and I'm the opposite. She does and says things without thinking and I over-think just about everything.

Not at all.
His Mom is very quiet, very... large, and kind of an airhead. She lets her husband make all the decisions and never speaks up for herself. She is super sweet to everyone, and she's also a horrible cook.
Me? I'm not quiet. I'm small. I hope I'm not an airhead. And I certainly don't let my husband control everything, we approach life together as equal partners in decision making. And I'm a great cook.

mostly not. his mom is very mild mannered and sweet. she's very shy and melancholy. i'm loud, bubbly, and idealistic. she's a people pleaser, and i almost always just say what's on my mind. i think in a lot of ways he expects me to be like his mom, and it creates trouble for us (e.g. not disagreeing with him in public). that being said, there are several ways we're similar... we both dote on him and make sure he's always happy and comfortable. we're both very affectionate and encouraging too.

Oh, gosh, I hope not! His mom has a lot of problems, both emotional and physical. I do think I'm a lot like his step-mom who has been a part of his life since he was very little. We get along really well!

@mrbee: i also wanted to add that hubs is A LOT like my dad. maybe the marrying your father thing rings truer?
