Yup, google "nub theory" and that's what the tech was talking about. I think it's hard to say "for certain" what the sex is that early on, but it's possible with the right shot of the nub. Two techs guessed "100% boy" at my 13 week u/s and they were right! Well, baby is not born yet, but you could clearly see boy parts at my 16 week and 20 week ultrasounds.

It might be trickier to get someone to guess girl with that amount of confidence at 13 weeks, but I've seen it happen. There's a popular gender determination forum out there somewhere where techs guess on nub shots, and I believe their accuracy rate is pretty good! Good luck!

Yes - my tech as well as my doctor guessed both times at around 12 weeks. They were correct both times (two girls).

My ob did at my 11 week u/s with my DS.

Yeah that's nub theory! Our tech refused to guess at our nt though I had suspicions when looking at the pics. Our dr guessed at our 15 week appointment and then we found out for real at our anatomy scan

Guessed girl at 12.5 weeks and was right

My tech said girl, I was 13 weeks at my NT scan. We'll see if she was right in early March!

They aren't allowed to guess!

@babybean404: I'm in the same boat. I would love to find out the genfer early, but probably just need to be patient. Our nt scan last week first seemed to reveal a boy, and then from another vantage point a girl. The tech said because of this she wouldn't even guess! Boo!

At our NT scan at 12 weeks and a few days it was pretty obvious that we were having a boy- he was not bashful at hiding anything and gave her some really good views.

My husband was still not 100% convinced since it was on the early side, so we got the elective at 15 weeks and the anatomy at 19 weeks- all confirmed boy.

@babybean404: Yes, it's nub theory. We weren't going to ask our tech about it, but at our NT scan she asked if we were going to find out the sex. We said yes. She explained the theory to us, pointed out the nub and said it looks like a girl. She was right! Girl was confirmed at 16 and 20 weeks. She better still be a girl when we meet her in a few weeks, with all the pink things we've got going on!

Tech said boy. High risk dr also said boy.

Anatomy scan at 18 weeks confirmed boy.

I had an ultrasound at 13 weeks and the tech asked if we were finding out the gender. We said yes and asked if she could tell. She said yes and I asked how sure she was. She said she was 100% sure. Said it was a girl, and pointed out the three lines of her labia. Sure enough, this was confirmed at 17 weeks and 20 weeks and birth.

The tech would not guess with my 1st but tech for my 2nd DD did. He said girl and was right! He also said he was an award winning ultrasound tech. Talked my ear off!
