I had my water broken at the hospital and it all gushed out...And then trickled. I remember thinking, "Thank God it didn't break on its own!"

My water broke at 4am while I was sleeping. I'd say it was more of a steady stream that didn't stop for close to 12 hours, though it did eventually become a trickle.

I felt a small pop and then a trickle. It didn't gush until we got to the hospital and I was getting my epidural. I kept apologizing to the nurse for make such a mess. I think I might have gotten her shoes when I sat on the edge of the bed.

It was 2am and I was lying in bed. My son was kicking like CRAZY. All of a sudden, I felt a pop and my water allllll gushed out. I stood up and it kept gushing out so I ran to the bathroom and started freaking out. I woke my DH up and said "OMG I think my water broke!". I called the emergency line and the on call doc asked me how much water came out and I told her "ALL OF IT!" and she said "Ok , go to the emergency room NOW. I'll meet you there.".
Yeah, it was pretty dramatic for us. Thankfully it happened while I was at home and not in public (like at work!).

I got up at 3am to go to the bathroom and my water broke right after I got back in bed. It wasn't a huge gush but it was enough for me to know that my water had broken.

I heard a loud pop and was in bed with DH. I couldn't tell for sure but was pretty sure since I was 40 weeks. When I got to the hospital the nurse couldn't tell either. Sure enough it did break!

dumb question from someone whose never been pregnant.... if your water breaks in bed does it ruin your mattress? do you put plastic sheets on in advance in case it breaks there?

yup, I was on the yoga ball and it just totally let go. i felt like i was just peeing and peeing and couldn't stop.
then 10 minutes later I was standing in the living room, and it went a second time! like a light switch - boom, waterfall.
@LaughLines: mine didn't break in bed, but my experience (on my yoga ball and standing, lol) was just like if you have a full bladder and pee yourself and keep peeing... that kind of wet!

@LaughLines: I was so freaked out about my water breaking (ironic, I know) that we put a waterproof pad under our sheets. AND I put towels underneath me AND I wore thick pads. So none of the water leaked onto our mattress.

I'm worried it'll happen at work, too!
We have a waterproof mattress cover for our bad. They aren't plasticky like they were when I was a kid!

I was driving back to work after picking up lunch for a meeting and I felt a pop and three little gushes. I knew immediately what it was since my contractions started every two minutes after that! I drove back to work, asked my temp to unload the car, and went into the bathroom to clean up (and throw up).

Hmm... I would pick dramatic.
I first noticed I wet my pad and that there was a pink tinge at 6 AM. Twelve hours later it GUSHED out. DH tried to wipe it up but it gushed out even more and went all over his hand/arm.

Not dramatic at all, I rolled over in bed and felt a pop, and thought I'd peed myself :T Then it just wouldn't stop trickling for 3 days!

My baby's head was so low and engaged that it basically cork screwed my vajayjay. So my water all gushed out after the baby came out!

It was very dramatic! I felt a little trickle around 3 a.m., called L&D, and they told me not to come in until my contractions were closer together. Then, a bit more (and more contractions) around 8 a.m., so I called again and they said I should eat some breakfast and then come in. It took us a while to get organized and out the door since my contractions were pretty strong and close together at this point. We got to L&D around 9 a.m. and I got out of the car, took one step, and suddenly my water broke all over the parking lot. My clothes were soaked! I made my husband go get a wheelchair for me since I was too embarrassed (and in too much pain) by that point to walk in on my own.

I felt a pop and had a contraction and felt like I wet my pants. I'd been having discharge so I sat in the toilet to check and my underwear was soaked through, then I started letting liquid go into the toilet and knew it wasn't pee. I was laughing nervously and stood up and liquid came out with each laugh and splashed on the bathroom floor lol!
