I found a tiny bit of yellowish discharge in Sadie's diaper tonight, and I'm a little freaked out. It was like snot consistency. Has anyone experienced this? Is it probably an infection?

Hmm I'm not sure but I had a diaper question the other day and my ped said not to be alarmed by newborn dipes unless there is blood- and that they can be all over the place with consistency sometimes! Not sure if the boy/girl difference matters in that. Try not to worry girlfriend ! Hoping you get some feedback that eases your mind

@photojane: has she been fussy?
This was our major indication of LO having a dairy intolerance. He was colicky all the time and just so, so fussy and screamy.
Ours was like a yellowish-tinted mucus.

@coacheswife123: Thank you! I need to stop Googling everything. Now I'm convinced she has some terrible infection. I'm going to call the ped tomorrow, but I'll just stress until then.
@TurtleDoves: She really doesn't fuss at all. She only cries when she's hungry. Does dairy intolerance always cause fussiness? I'm lactose intolerant, so it could be possible that she is too. She is formula fed, but it's milk-based.

@photojane: we're FF too and we used hypoallergenic formula and then finally were able to switch to gentle (has dairy but it is broken down halfway so is easier to digest).
If she isn't fussy, I'd highly doubt it because they get cray-cray when they actually have an intolerance.

I know they told us that some discharge was normal for girls. I remember they said white so I'm not totally sure about yellow.

@photojane: how old is she again? I remember them saying discharge even a little bloody is completely normal after delivery their hormones are regulating and almost like getting a period.
I remember m getting a mucousy blood tinged discharge. It was gone after a day.
If you're worried I would call your ped. ETA: don't they have a after hours nurse service you can call?

@TurtleDoves: Ah.. okay. She eats Gentlease, so we're already using the broken down formula. She doesn't seem to have any issues with it, so I'm guessing the discharge is unrelated.
@regberadaisy: She's almost 5 weeks. She had a little blood at like 5 days old, but nothing like that since. I think that is from mom's hormones in her system, but she's not getting any of my hormones or anything anymore. There is a nurses' line, but I feel silly calling over a non-emergency. Ha.

@photojane: if you're worried it IS an emergency! That's what they're there for.
It's not like you're asking them to page the doctor. But I felt the same way as you too.

@regberadaisy: I'm going to call first thing in the morning! Ugh.. I hate calling the doctor.

@coacheswife123: thanks for checking in! She hasn't had any since, so the nurse said not to worry.
