now you have me sooo curious and I want to know the names :):)

I would say that as you go over the list or even find a few new ones, refrain from telling anyone. If you are this affected by negativity then I think keeping it a secret would be ideal for you. You can't worry about what everyone else will think - its your baby and you have to choose the name you think is best!! As it is with all parenting choices..

We did opt to tell people the name we chose, but it was two months after we had chosen it so that we had time to "try it out" and knew we loved it no matter what by the time we announced it. I think that because we were very definite while telling people, no one commented negatively about it.

Just as when your baby is born and named more than likely the nay sayers will stay silent. And you can't worry about them.

I did doubt our name choice here and there because I didn't want a freakishly weird name, but I didn't want anything in the top 100 names either. But I called my belly that name for awhile and after a couple months I knew it was "the one" lol I still love it and he is 7 mos.

@Coco Bee: I know. It's flies by the second time around!

I agree- try to keep the names to yourselves. We had people commenting left and right about every name, so we kept ALL of our finalist names a secret until after LO was born. I didn't want anyone else's negative connotations influencing our decision.

We are 9 days away from our EDD and could not be more clueless on a name for our girl!

We had a long list in the Spring, and did tell some family and friends our top picks, they were all pretty plain jane names and/or "older" type names and got either negative or no real reaction. Most people use not liking them because of someone they think of with that name. Lesson learned? Yes! We haven't let it discourage us, we know whatever we name her, she will be loved.....

We've since hacked and added to that list so.many.times and now scrapped it completely. I doubted names, loved names, then hated them (and thought....what was I thinking!) We are just going to have to wait until she's in our arms and hopefully she looks like a certain name and all of our hilarity/insanity with figuring out a name will be settled!

"good" name or "bad" your baby will be loved, the name will come to you.....eventually! You definitely don't have to have a name ahead of time, and maybe you will and she still won't fit in, it'll fit when it's supposed to

Don't be discouraged. We were team green both times and although we had settled on a name for a girl each time we were had not settled on a name for a boy until in the delivery room. Just tell anyone who asks that you haven't yet settled and don't want to share until the baby is born (even family that pushes the issue). If they don't like the name you choose, tough cookies, it is your child and you get to name them whatever you desire.

We told our preliminary "top 3" to people to mixed reactions. We had a really hard time coming up with ANYTHING that we agreed on and neither of us was really in love with any of them.

In the end, we had an "ah-ha!" moment while watching a movie and we picked a tentative top choice. She didn't have an official name until she was born. We wanted to see if the name fit her and if it didn't, we had a couple back-ups.

I'm shocked that at only 7 weeks nearly all of my friends/family have asked me what names we're thinking about. I mentioned a few that I liked and got "Oh but %@# is just SO CUTE!" ..none of my names -.- but hey, they're our babies & we'll call them what we want!

You have to go with the name you love! Try your best to drown out all the negativity. If you and DH are on the same page about a name, go with it. And now just remember not to tell anybody. Nobody's going to say anything once it's your LO's name. I'm sorry you're dealing with this!
