Do you use them? I have some but haven't used them yet. I'm thinking it's better using them with Flips (or covers) versus using them in my pocket diapers because I can thow the inserts away immediately, versus pulling the inserts out of the pocket diapers.
We currently use pocket diapers and we have some regular disposable diapers that we put on when we go to the dr. Wondering if we should try using the disposable inserts the next time we go out.

@Bluestriped Bee: I haven't used any disposable inserts, although I did try disposable liners for a few weeks after starting solids. Now I don't bother. Any reason why you use regular disposables for doctor's visits? I did for a couple of visits, but now just use regular pockets or AIOs. I take them off and put them back on for weighings and the doc undoes them and does them back up herself when she's checking him over. I sometimes have to adjust the snap after but no biggie. She's never blinked an eye.

Sorry to thread jack but....@Astro Bee: I was considering getting the liners when we start solids (which is pretty much this week but he's not really swallowing anything yet- BLW) what made you decide to ditch them? Are you just rinsing in the toilet now? I don't have a sprayer yet so I need to figure something out quickly!
ETA- we use cloth for dr's visits. They don't have any issues with them!

Following. I am building my stash of bumgenius pocket diapers, but I also want to get some diapers that would easily hold disposable liners so if I'm away from home for a while u can just throw the poop covered liner out.

I used gDiapers with disposable inserts for both of my LOs. I loved them and they didn't give my LOs any rashes.

@Astro Bee: So if it were me and I was taking the babies to the Dr, I would leave them in cloth. But apparently before the babies were born, I told the DH that we would use cloth full time but when we travel and go to Dr visits we could use disposables. So DH likes to put them into disposables before we go. We just came back from a 3 week trip and used disposables so we still have some left.
I am a bit confused on the difference between disposables and cloth diapers with disposable inserts. I think I need to ask the DH since he is the one who wants to use them. Does he use them (disposable diapers) so it's quicker to get off and do weight checks? If he tries these disposable inserts, will he simply put the cloth diaper and used insert into the wet bag? Or will he take the insert out and toss that and put the cloth diaper cover into the wet bag. I can see him saying the disposable insert is more work because he has to use a wet bag and 'touch' the disposable insert to throw out. The other issue is the dr's office doesn't allow us thow out diapers at the office. They make us take dirty diapers home. So cloth diapers or disposables, we are still bringing it home. Yeah, if it were me, I would just stick with cloth.

I've heard good things about viva paper towels.... I'm going to try that, and hope that will help with staining and poop!

@Portboston: @DesertDreams88: So the liners that you guys are talking about are much thinner. Like paper towel thin. So you can remove solids. Oh, the liners are also good if you want to use a diaper rash cream and want to protect the cloth diaper from absorbing something that might soak and be hard to wash out. The disposable inserts that I'm talking about pretty much look like a feminine pad. Thick like a maxi pad. They are supposed to be used in a cloth diaper and have the appeal of a disposable diaper. Some cloth diaper systems call these hybrid systems where instead of using a cloth insert, you can use these. Maybe less 'work' because you don't have to wash the cloth inserts. In theory, if you are using cloth diapers, you have to do wash anyway, so disposable inserts reduce the laundry... but it kinda the defeats the purpose of using cloth because these inserts still go to the landfill but you are still using diaper covers that need to be washed. Yeah, I'm still figuring things out.... confusing...

@bluestriped bee: I bought a pack of grovia disposable inserts and never used them because I could never think of a good time to use them. Now we no longer use cloth since he outgrew all of my diapers (giant baby here). I felt the same way as you that I didn't quite get how they would be easier. If you still have tote around covers etc.

@bluestriped bee: Gotcha. I use flip covers but with regular flip inserts, not disposables. I was just considering getting the thin liners for starting solids since I will no longer be able to just toss the soiled diapers in the wash!

And yea if your dr's office makes you take dirty diapers, there is really no point in using the disposable inserts! I guess the only positive to using cloth covers with disposable inserts is the lack of blow outs. Ive heard of people using disposable diapers with a cloth cover on long car rides, airplane rides, etc to avoid leaks and blow outs.

@autumnlove: i was gifted the FLIP disposable inserts, but when i went to buy more, i realized it was cheaper to buy just regular earth friendly diapers! so i never bought disposable inserts again!
i use CD for mostly everything except travel and sometimes overnight. my peds (we've gone to 4 practices in 3 years between both girls) have never said a thing negatively, mostly comment on how cute they are if anything.

Yeah, I misread and thought you were talking about liners... Didn't even know that disposable inserts were an option. Yeah, based on the amount of trash and inconvenience of still having to wash the pockets, I'd just use disposable diapers at that point.

Like @lamariniere: we use gDiapers & sometimes use their disposable inserts for either when we are out & about all day long & I know I'll change several diapers and want to cart less dirty diaper laundry home, or if LO has diaper rash so that I can use diaper cream on her. I've also used a few brands of diaper liners, incidentally, & am loving the ability to flush or toss the solid waste instead of packing it home & laundering.

@GoGoSnoGirl: Oh, good point. If you are out all day, using disposable inserts will allow you bring less dirty laundry home. That makes sense.

@trailrunner: that's the impression I get from the Fluff Love facebook group..... haven't gotten to try it out with baby, he's still inside cooking at 40+2...
