That is such a cute hat! I'm not sure about the delivery room, but we were able to put our own hats on LO in our room. DH's grandmother knit some beautiful hats and we had a couple of cute ones that came with outfits and we used these almost exclusively. We received a lot of compliments on them.

The hat they put on our little girl in the delivery room had a bow on it, so maybe your hospital has those same hats. Here's a picture. As you can see - very similar. I will admit though, if I had seen your hat prior to giving birth, I would have bought some no doubt. I just love little bows on babies! Our LO has a ton of hair and she wears a bow every.single.day.

And lol on the thread jacking! I love the baskets and liners!!! I have 4 of them in our nursery too, with purple dot liners - to match our purple dot curtains. Haha! I have one last project for her room (painting and putting up her name along with some funky shaped frames) and then I'll post pics. DH shakes his head at me too, but then will admit that things look nice. He thought I was nuts with the flower canopy and butterfly mobile hanging underneath, but it really does look awesome if I do say so myself. It is so much fun having a girl!

P.S. Our latest debate is that DH won't let me pierce her ears like I want to. Boo!

Heheh so cute. My hospital actually had special hats for girls. Had little flowers/bows on them.
I know a girl who dressed her baby in stuff she brought with her from home. The nurses didn't have a problem with it.

They actually asked me where his clothes were that I brought for him! It didn't occur to me to bring clothes for him to wear in the hospital... it wasn't an issue though because I wanted to practice skin-to-skin the whole time I was in the hospital, so when he wasn't on my chest he was just wrapped in swaddle blankets. I did bring my own A&A swaddle blankets..

As for the hat - that's super cute!! love it. I don't see why it would be a problem!!

I brought my own diapers for DS too and they were great about using mine even though they would use their own normally.

Yup, we brought a few girly hats and the nurses all cooed over how cute they were every time they saw her. They didn't have special cute hats for girls, but we did get a little knitted hat that the nurses said someone had knitted and donated to the hospital. Adorable.

I have no idea what our hospital does/allows but that hat is adorable!!

Sawyer only wore the hospital stuff for a few hours, until I gave him his first bath. Then he was in his own clothes/blankets etc.

Cuteness! We kept our baby in hospital clothes, but I don't think the hospital would've had a problem at all if we brought our own. I think I did put our own hat on her because I wanted a little pink on her

I wore my own things and so did DS. He couldn't really wear a hat though because he was a vacuum delivery and had a hematoma on the back of his head.

Our baby never left our room so no one ever touched her "stuff." We put her in the clothes we brought with us as soon as we felt comfortable doing so. I didn't really have anything "cute" for her but I liked her in the onesie and sleeper I brought with me.

The hospital I work at let's you put whatever you want on your baby! Such a cute hat!

She was just in a diaper and swaddled for her first 2 weeks (with a few exceptions for outings). She roomed in with us so we were able to put her in whatever we wanted.

Omg I need to get one of those hats!

@cvbee: I'm so glad I'm reading this thread bc I had no idea that I have to bring all of my own diapers and stuff!! Thanks!

@anonysquire: @sslm: They did have a secret stash of 'just in case' diapers, maybe donated?, and at one point I had to use a couple. I didn't realize how long they were going to let us stay in the hospital (3 nights!!! it's the usual up here in my rural hospital because there aren't many people around here having babies), so i had only brought one pack of NB diapers and one small (travel) pack of wipes! Had to send DH home to get lots of stuff!

@anonysquire: I guess the up-side is that the entire birth and hospital stay is otherwise 'free' due to our healthcare system. But, yeah, I guess from reading so much American stuff I was a little taken-aback when the nurse was like "where are your diapers?" and then after the first bath "where are your baby's clothes?". To be fair to them, I would have found this out at my 'hospital tour' prenatal class, but it was scheduled for AFTER I gave birth. (two weeks early)

Our hospital actually uses those exact style of hats for the little girls. They do have the knitted ones too, but I was just helping in the nursery the other day and these are usually what they use.
