I'm not at the office today but I heard there was a meeting with catered breakfast for the execs. They didn't eat everything so they put the leftover pastries, coffee and fruit in the kitchen and most of my coworkers RAN to grab something. LO..free food is wonderful!

Our company hosts holiday luncheons, and it seems to be pretty orderly. And when there's leftovers from other departments placed in the kitchen/break room, there's usually food leftover at the end of the day.

Whenever we have work potlucks, one division snatches all of the leftovers ASAP. We all know it'll happen and just laugh. If there's something we want, we know to set it aside.

Hahaha yeah, as soon as the email saying "there's food on X floor" goes out, you hear the rush to the elevators!

guilty... and the worst is if I already bought my lunch and then the email goes out! I am usually more interested in dessert options though, like cookies

we have one EE that will go and ask the department if they think there will be leftovers, so he doesnt have to go out and buy his lunch...said person has also been know to pack his dinner from leftover food...and when there is chocolate cake we can guarantee he will take about 2-3 servings...its such a joke...

Every two weeks we have a pizza lunch which the company pays for. Everyone is happy about it, but there is always more than enough so no one has to race to the lunch room.

Not really, but it is also a very small office and no one wants to seem greedy, lol. It will just be left in the conference room and you can grab what you want.

Absolutely! Myself included. If something is put out, it will be gone in 2 hours. Its like we are starving vultures.

Where I used to work there was always free food so I think people just got used to it. Meetings would always mean free donuts and I always wanted to jump on them.... but I was the only one so I was too embarrassed! And there was free lunch which I did take advantage of as long as I liked it that day.

Absolutely nothing is provided at my office, so free food is a really big deal. There's someone who sends out an email to the floor, but that person alerts her friends first before it goes out so they can get first dibs. I used to sit next to one of her friends which is how I know.
Same at DH's office although he learned it the hard way. I gave him a box of GS cookies to bring to work and he made the fatal mistake of not taking any out for himself before putting the full box in the pantry. He came back 10 minutes later and they were gone!
