Right now I'm sitting in my rocking chair on my front porch watching the neighborhood kids play and waving and saying hello as people go by on their evening walks. I love that the people who live around me are so social with each other! Is your neighborhood like this?

My neighborhood is not like that at all. I don't ever see anyone outside unless they're walking to their mailboxes. Hopefully our next house will be in a more social neighborhood.

There are always lots of people taking walks but there are not a lot of porches around here.

We have a lot of kids that hang out and play.. not so many adults though.

Usually the adults do a combo of supervising and socializing. I just witnessed a battle of wills between kid and mother about whether or not the kid could ride his bike down to the walking path at the back of our neighborhood. Kid won!

Some people hang out on their porches. Most hang out in their backyards. We see people on walks and such but the warmer weather definitely brings people out.

Nope! We live in an older neighborhood where everyone's kids are all grown up. We see adults passing by on their evening walks or grooming their lawns, but that's about it.

there's pockets of activity. there's cliques in our sub! and ppl hang out in their lil groups

We have rocking chairs out front too! Our neighborhood is very family and pet friendly, always people outside!

Nope, unless it's the weekend. Kids are always out, riding bikes in packs.LOL

Yes, even in NYC, it can feel like the 'burbs a little. People are always out jogging or walking with their dogs and/or kids. Our street has less traffic/foot traffic than most because we are near the outskirts, so pretty much everyone on the street here lives around here. there's a small restaurant across the street with a huge patio seating area where people hang out. Across the main street lies a huge park with a bike trail, an outdoor cafe, playgrounds, dog runs, the works... Summers are the best with neighborhood fairs and activities in the park. I love where we live

Not at all, I don't like it. Our neighbors are strangers to us. I know who they are by watching them in passing, we hbe a diverse neighborhood. One neighbor is a young lady living with her boyfriend, another is an older lady who ALWAYS has visitors, there is a family with two teenage kids, two young-20s boys live next door, a single guy across the street and this hermit family I hardly ever see who has a little girl. But I know none of their names, we wave when someone drives past and that's it.
We're moving soon so hopefully new neighbors will be more social.

Yes, we live in a very social neighborhood! I was just thinking this morning, when it took us 1/2 hour to walk two blocks this morning...
the kids play all around though
