I hadn't planned on getting a glider for the nursery, but as time goes on I wonder if we need one. I rarely see nurseries without them! I don't want to not budget for one then regret it.

I love ours, but its not vital. If you can afford it, I would get one!

I had one with G but didn't get one this time & don't regret it. I prefer to be able to sit back on the couch or lay in bed to nurse... sitting so far upright is just too uncomfortable. Also, since we haven't done/don't plan on sleep training (we co-sleep & co-bed) I don't really need a place to rock bebe for extended periods.

DH had one from when he worked at a baby furniture store. If he hadn't we wouldn't have gotten one because I didn't think I needed it. Turned out we didn't! It was hardly used and now is taking up a large amount of space in our home. If you don't think it is something you would use/need/want there is no reason you have to have one.

I loves mine for the first six weeks or so when she was eating non-stop ... Now I don't use it as much. Soo... It's nice, but not a necessity! Check consignment stores for good deals!

It's been a necessity for us. DS is 18 months old and I've used it almost every night since he was born. I bought ours at a children's consignment store and it is in really good condition. I wouldn't spend a ton of money on one but I think they are worth buying.

Not sure how much I will use ours once LO arrives. I think we will but we never know. The one major plus for me with ours is that it reclines. If it didn't recline I doubt we would use it much.

LO is 5 months old an i think I have used mine about 5 times.... I am thinking maybe when he is bigger I will use it more, but so far it didn't seem necessary. And it was expensive!

Writing this as I rock K back and forth non stop in our glider. I think for us it will be a very thankful item we have, if not entirely a necessity. It's saving me the energy of standing and rocking her back and forth. And comfy enough for me to fall asleep in. Easy to nurse in also. And when my sciatica was acting up a lot towards the end of pregnancy, I found myself resting in the glider A LOT!

We used ours every day, it was the most comfortable place to nurse for us. I am glad I have mine but I probably wouldn't have spent so much if I had it to do over again!

Used ours multiple times each day in the early months as it was my favorite spot to nurse, especially when he was taking 40 minutes for each session. Then we when we rocked him to sleep, it was obviously convenient for that. Now we use it to read stories in before naps and night-time. Even if you don't get a glider, I would recommend getting a chair of some kind to put in the nursery.

We use ours pretty much every day. It was a total necessity for us.

@grizz: Hi Hi! A lot of people have said they are a lot of money and most of them do not seem to give you proper neck support. I need all the ergonomic help I can get and a MW recommended this cheap chair from ikea...

I know its not particularly glam but apparently its excellent for back/neck/foot support and not expensive.

Love my glider and use it multiple times a day! I was gifted mine but I'm so glad I got the one I did with a high back so I can lean into it and rest my head. Our couch and other chairs are low so I can't so that with them.

We haven't used our rocker much so far (11 days old!), but it's nice to have at times...we just used a free one passed on by a family friend. As much as I LOVE gliders I have tried in stores, our budget and lifestyle wouldn't have allowed one.
