I wouldn't care how nice the thank you card is... I think the message inside (tailored and specific towards the person) is more important

No I don't care about the physical card! I think the message inside is much more important!

To be completely honest, I am always aghast at how much trimmings cost because it usually gets thrown away! The card is $3-4, gift bag is $3-5, tissue paper, ribbon, etc.

@shopaholic: I think the fact that you're hand writing a card is the most important thing to people and they will be happy to hear how appreciative you are.

Do you happen to have a dollar tree near you? One of my local ones actually has some really great semi-papyrus style cards for only a dollar!

I don't care what the card looks like. You could send me a piece of notebook paper. I care that I get a thank you card.

The gesture means more to me than the actual card, but I do appreciate a nice card.

Echoing PP's. It's not the card, it's what you write in it & the fact you even sent one!

I don't care about thank you cards at all--I don't even really care about the message inside. I generally barely skim it before I toss it in the trash. I realize that the poor person was sitting there, grinding out dozens or even hundreds of thank you cards (weddings), and personally, if I could, I would "opt out" and save them the hassle.

I'm either find with 1) not getting a thank you card at all or 2) a quick text, like, "Love the nipple balm and onesie!!".

Especially if I was there in person (like at a shower), and I know they recieved it and liked it. But I know that's just me!

Another one who doesn't care about the quality of the card, but cares very much about receiving a thank you. I usually get some fairly inexpensive ones at Target. The quality is often pretty great for not a lot of money!

Agree that there's nothing wrong with packaged cards--I have never thought about card quality! As long as you actually write a thank you note, that's what counts. And a lot of people throw them away anyhow.

I am a little strange, but I feel a little guilty when I receive a really nice card. Like, "should I keep this because it is so nice?" and I feel bad about the waste of resources in just throwing it away (all that nice beading! the cute little pin!) BUT I can't stand clutter so they usually get trashed

That said, I'd prefer a stamped card any day. Its the message that counts. I'm from the South and we usually buy a Thank You gift for the hosteses at the shower and then send a thank you card to thank them for the gift they gave and reiterate the thank you for hosting the shower.

I dont think it matters. Personally I always make my own cards, just need card stock and stamps. I already have those things so its free.

I really don't care and usually throw them out as soon as I receive/read them. So I always buy the cheapo ones to send out.

I care more about the message as well! No one compares their thank you cards with someone else's and this is coming from a paper person.
