I just got the oddest call from someone I had gotten to know from a language course. I hesitate to call her a friend because it's always been one way. I've done a few things for her, but she only seems to call whenever she needs something.

I was napping so I was a little confused to how the conversation progressed. In the midst of apologizing for waking me up and asking about my pregnancy, she starts asking if I'm going anywhere in July and August. I'm due in early July, so there's no way I'm going anywhere.

She then proceeds to ask if she can use my luggage?! Huh? So she's taking a trip to her home country (it's one of the things that brought us together at first because she's also a foreigner) and apparently needs 2 pieces of check-in luggage. I was taken aback ... I think luggage is pretty personal. Plus she's a heavy smoker!! But in the heat of the moment I reluctantly agreed, but said I only have very large luggage (which is true) but they're the ones that I was planning to replace in a few years.

That got me thinking ... am I super stingy? I felt like she was asking to use my underwear or something =P Would you allow a non-family member/close friend to use your luggage?

I should add that there's a hygiene issue to it as well. The one time I rode in her car it smelled like a medley of cigarettes and pee (she has a toddler).
