I do! I look forward to work after long solo weekends with the LOs.

Absolutely not. I constantly have people needing my attention at work. In fact, it actually REALLY annoys me when people say that WOHMs get so much "alone" time and so many "breaks". FALSE.

Yes, totally! Some days it's way easier than caring for a grouchy toddler! And no one asks to try some of my lunch!

@MamaMoose: LOL and WORD. I have to close my door and put a DND on my phone to get any peace . . . !

@MamaMoose: Although, to be fair, I do get to go to the bathroom by myself.
honeydew / 7283 posts
Nope. I'm a nurse so I'm really never alone at work and it's not always all that different than caring for a toddler .
Some days I'm guilty of thinking of my husband's work as his alone time though. Occasionally he has long drives and I'm thinking "wait - you were in the car by yourself for an hour?!? Listening to whatever music you want? You had silence if you wanted it?". Sounds like heaven...

@MamaMoose: *augh* I do seek out the private bathrooms we have to eliminate the inter-stall chit chat though. But that really stinks!

I do! Especially now, I'm updating our documents so for the most part, people leave me alone. Yay!

@MamaMoose: amen!
Definitely not! Instead of crying, needy babies, I deal with the adult versions during the day. Even my lunch breaks tend to be spent doing something productive, running errands, etc.

I definitely don't count it as alone time. I mean...I guess I get my pumping time during my lunch break alone (in a cinderblock room with no windows/no cell service/sketchy wireless internet).
I feel like alone time is time when you get to do whatever you want--like sit on the TV and watch a show with coffee in my hand.
@MrsF: oh, I have a long commute, too...but I HATE driving and have some road anger issues...and I pump while I'm driving so I feel like I'm way more stressed after driving. Definitely doesn't qualify as "alone time" for me.
I guess I associate alone time with relaxing time.

@MamaMoose: ugh! I hate when people try to talk to me in the bathroom!
And no. Work is not alone time for me either.

@Mama Bird: Eat and bathroom trips without a shadow? I am online shopping right now!

Depends on the day! Today, yes, because I don't have much to do and am getting a paper written.

Most of the time - I'm left alone to do my job (editing) for the most part, so unless I have meetings and people dropping by to ask me things, it's alone time. I can also create alone time by going to get a coffee or just going for a walk downstairs.

Quiet time? Sure, sometimes.
Alone time? Lols no. I am never alone
coconut / 8472 posts
No, I am neither alone nor is there quiet in my office. I had to go hide in an empty office the other day to get some work done.
cantaloupe / 6800 posts
Negative - LO comes to work with me. My "alone time" is when I take a shower, go to the doctors or when he's in bed!
pomegranate / 3895 posts
Not alone time, but kind of "me" time. My job involves one-on-one appointments for most of the day, but I'm super social so I thrive on that kind of stuff.
pomegranate / 3204 posts
I guess, in a way? I don't enjoy work, but it is nice to be able to use the bathroom by myself, eat lunch, and browse the internet when I'm not busy.
eggplant / 11716 posts
SO, today I don't even get to PUMP alone. I have a "library closed" sign on the library door and an "occupied" sign on the door to the room where I pump, and I got two attempted walk ins in a 5 minutes span just now. WTF people.
Can't WAIT to be done with pumping at work. grrrrr.

Sometimes. If i don't have a lot of meetings or my boss isn't asking a lot of questions, then yes. Otherwise, it's pretty exhausting bc meetings have lots of follow up and to do's on top of regular day work. Eek!

@MsLipGloss: inter-stall chit chat? Nobody wants to pee & have a heart to heart. Boo!
Work time is definitely not alone time. Alone time is coffee + music + reading on the deck.

Soooo, I am a SAHM, but I was a WOHM between my two kids, and I looooong for those days. Maybe not alone time, but it was a change of pace, and in my role, adult time. I miss that so much it hurts some days.
coconut / 8861 posts
Yep at times. When I'm not emailing clients or chasing down hardcopy, it's definitely quiet alone time. I use it to organize our lives or get an eyebrow wax. I think I take way better care of myself as a working mom then I did when I was on maternity leave.

@Anagram: That is brutal! Perhaps you should post a sign that says, "Caution! BARE BOOBS!"
eggplant / 11716 posts
@heartonastring: I would, but I work in a middle school and I can't have students seeing that! LOL.
What a headline that would be.

No. I enjoy working but don count it as me time.
My me time is after ds is asleep or if dh is on solo duty!

I do. Our weekends are so jam packed work is low key compared!
GOLD / wonderful olive / 19030 posts
No, but in all honesty yesterday I couldn't wait to come back to work! LO was a terror yesterday, I needed an adult break.
