I don't normally, but sometimes I work with different geographic regions, or I have to put in time at night to meet client deadlines. Tonight is one of those nights. :\

We have one night/week where our office is open to 8pm and take turns doing that shift. Same with Saturdays, only once every 5 weeks.

Nope! We do have emergency "call" though. It's a texting service that texts us patient "emergencies" and we can call them back at our discretion. I never have to go in though. Usually just an antibiotic or we tell them to go to the ER. I have it 3-4 times a year.

Yes! I just came on here to procrastinate grading my students' work. I'm now working at a digital pilot school (all students have macbook airs!) so all work is submitted digitally--it takes SO much longer to comment and provide feedback.
I just want to go to bed...

Yup, I have somewhat flexible hours at my job as an nurse and I have been choosing to go in for extra evening shifts about 2-3 times per month. As soon as DH gets some, I head to work. Its kind of rough to work until 10 or 11pm after chasing after LO all day...but its nice to have the $$.

Yep. Our standard hours are 9-5 but i often come in early or stay late.

I don't work transitional hours. Nights and weekends are fair game.

All the time. I'm a college prof. It's not a 9-5 job. Last night I was prepping my lectures for today until past midnight. Tonight I'm calling it quits earlier so I can catch up on some sleep. Luckily DD doesn't like to wake up too early or I'd be truly exhausted.

Yes, all the time. Thankfully I always get to leave on time, but at least 50-60% of evenings I need to log back in once DS is sleeping and finish up my work.

All the time. I am on a much-needed vacation from work right now, but last Friday I worked 10-7. I took a break to meet an out-of-town friend for dinner, was back home at 10:30 p.m. and then worked until 2 a.m. Also, had to do some work on Saturday (plus my summer Fridays and on my previous vacation). I've pulled many late nights for my job and it sucks ass.

Most of the year, I try to not work much overtime, but Sept-December, I do a fair amount at the office. Tonight I got the nod to do an hour at home, and I'll probably do 1-2 hours at home tomorrow, which is supposed to be my Labor Day since I was in the office on Monday.

Yes. I work freelance, so I work evenings and weekends when I have urgent jobs.

Now and again, the office is usually 9-5 mon to fri but sometimes a guest will arrive as late as 7pm or the weekend requires extra staff. We don't get overtime unfortunately so we take some time off to make up for it during the week which is rubbish, but part of the job I'm afraid!

Not unless it's a special work weekend, usually around a release or year end.

I am a lawyer so I don't have the most regular hours, but I do theoretically only work Mon-Thurs. It seems, however, that pretty much every other Friday I am in the office for some length of time. This morning I am getting ready for a 7 a.m. client meeting on my day off!!

Not anymore. I used to work after hours all the time... coming in early, leaving late, working from home. It took me getting really sick to realize that it's just not worth it. Now I work my regular hours and go home.
pear / 1672 posts
Yes. All the time. I bring home work at least once per week. I try not to, but it's often needed.

Every once in a while. I have to go to a big banquet/event tonight for work. I'm sure it will be lovely, but I suck at schmoozing and would rather be home in my jammies. At least I get to with my work wife.

Yep, I work outside of my regular hours a lot. It makes it really difficult to plan anything!

I work w/ factories in China so I do check my emails at night sometimes; it's not required of me though.

Occasionally we'll have a deadline sneak up on us that requires some late nights, but it doesn't happen very often anymore. Other than that I pretty much never stay more than 30 minutes late.

Sometimes. Since we're going back to the office full time (no WFH, boo), I'm leaving my computer at work, so no work once I've left the office.
honeydew / 7444 posts
Quite a bit. I'll log on a few times a week after LO goes to bed depending on what's going on. But lately i've been good about not touching my laptop/blackberry on the weekends.

Nope. I do not get paid overtime, so I do not do extra work. Not that they even have extra work anyway....

Not usually but a few years ago we were working on a huge document and I went home for 2 hours then had to come back and work until midnight - for 4 days - it sucked!
