I set ours off again today! I was searing a steak in a very hot pan, and even though the searing only lasted 30 seconds on each side (and the stove fan was on)... there was enough smoke to set off the alarm.

I think the issue is that the fan above the stove isn't very powerful, and also that our smoke detector is very sensitive. Also, I am still figuring out this cast iron pan a bit. Almost there, though!

Do you ever set off your smoke alarm while you're cooking?
