I miss my kids like crazy during the week so I always feel bad when I look forward to nap time on the weekends.

NO WAY. It is literally my *only* time alone in my entire present and future lifetime.

Nope - naps are good for kiddos and even better for mama

@Andrea: lol, right. It's not like I go out to the bar during nap time. Nope, it's more like, I'm scarfing down my late breakfast while making phone calls, while throwing a load into the washer. Maybe i'll shower. Maybe that'll wait. Who knows...

I do.... but I can't help it!
I am now actually very scared because he seems to be moving toward no nap at all .... yikes!!!! (He used to nap 3 hours straight on weekends. Nowadays he only naps 1-1.5 hours
)

I do feel bad sometimes. I usually end up wanting her to wake up sooner because I miss her

I did ... until I read everyone's responses here!
@autumnlove: I know exactly how you feel, though. On weekdays I get 3 hours (if I'm lucky) of awake time with DS. But on weekends I need a break, too. I'll remind myself of this post next time I have looking-forward-to-nap guilt!

I feel a little guilty sometimes. We play hard when she's awake and we relax even harder during nap time
nectarine / 2591 posts
Nope! Everyone benefits from nap time. We need our time apart to enjoy our time together. Haha

I do feel bad sometimes, but of course when he is napping I miss him! I do know naps are good for him, so it's not like I am just forcing him to give me me time.

I do! I miss him so much during the week. Sometimes we take a Saturday nap together!

No, I agree with PPs.
However I am extra sad now because I have been looking forward to nap and being met with a toddler who refuses to nap for the last 3 weekends! Not sure what will happen with this...

@MamaCate:
My toddler is the same way. She took a freak 4 hour nap today because she is still fighting a cold but her naps are usually 0-45 minutes!
The baby had so much fun playing with her toys during her sister's nap!

No guilt here! I love nap times. She looks so peaceful and angelic. I didn't realize how many pictures I took of her getting her beauty sleep until my SIL flat out said "no more sleeping pictures please, I want pictures of her awake & smiling." Haha

No way! I work my ass off parenting, and naptime is literally my only break.

I used to but definitely not anymore! It's the only time alone that I get!

No way!!! I get so worn out from the LO's that I neeeeed my alone time!!
pomegranate / 3595 posts
@autumnlove: how old is your LO? Mine is 22 months and I am just not willing to accept that she is done with naps yet. She is clearly over tired and cranky by the end of the day but so far no change. I don't know what I would do with myself for a 4 hour nap! Hope you enjoyed yourself too!

I was counting the minutes until bedtime today! We had a good day too...I just had so much other stuff I needed to do.

No, but I'm a SAHM so I get all of his awake time during the day. If I was a WAHM I think maybe I'd feel bad.
cantaloupe / 6687 posts
@sunny: haha! There are definitely those days when I'm watching the clock and so looking forward to nap time!
Now that she's down to one nap I do not feel guilty looking forward to nap time bc I'm pretty tired and/or have a million things to do...and I just spent a huge chunk of time with her...we both need the break by the time nap time rolls around
bananas / 9227 posts
Nope! It's when I have my coffee and get to eat in peace (while on HB)
grapefruit / 4819 posts
@lovehoneybee: Same here. Being a SAHM, I am obviously spending loads of time with my LO, so there is zero guilt whatsoever when nap time comes around! I could see feeling guilty though if I worked long hours and didn't see her much during the week - it would be an irrational guilt though as I know naps are crucial to her development and not something done just because momma needs a break!

Haha no way that one nap is my only break from 7- whenever dad gets home. And he doesn't sleep long at nap time!
