I do. I can leave my purse and phone in my car in plain sight and not worry about it getting stolen.

I had been feeling very safe in our little bitty farming community until recently. There was been a rash of break ins.

Even though we live in one of the safest neighborhoods in the area I still would never leave anything valuable in plain sight. Probably just a habit from living in NYC. Besides, suburbia is always where the real crazies are.

Yep, not to the point where I would leave anything valuable out or leave my door unlocked overnight, but I definitely live in a safe, look out for each other type of community.

Eh... I don't feel like I am in any danger really, but it's not a super safe community. Our fracking tenants were selling drugs (weed and cocaine) out of our basement, and most of the neighbours are the same type of people.

This maybe is surprising, considering I live in Boston, but yes, I feel safe. Not to the point that I would leave stuff out in plain site, but I used to leave out door closed but unlocked while walking our dog. I feel safe walking him at any time of night, which is my safety litmus test. But I also won't be stupid and walk down deserted streets tipsy in the middle of the night.

Last night I left our front door unlocked. Ooops. No one broke in! Woo!
I don't feel as safe as I did where we lived in Maryland (our doors and windows were always unlocked) but here I'm somewhat safe.

Yes, I think our community is super safe, however I'd only leave valuables locked in my car for a moment and never like to go to bed without the door locked, although my husband has forgotten before. However you can't get used to a presumption that it's always safe. I grew up in a very safe, small town community and in college our home was broken into. You just never know!

We live in an extremely safe city, FBI's rated safest city in the U.S., however we still take precautions by locking up and never leaving personal belongings in plain sight.

I feel safe, although I still wouldn't leave my purse in view in the car! Once in downtown (where I don't always feel safe), I left my car unlocked and it was still there. Guess "they" aren't out to get me. Yea!

I do, but I still wouldn't leave valuables out in plain sight. There's always teenage kids roaming around and you never know.

Yes, we live in a small town and I feel pretty safe in our neighborhood. At our last house in a different city people used to steal anything not cemented down. The bulbs in our porch lights were constantly being stolen. So creepy!

Very safe here! We leave our house door unlocked if we leave to run errands and I leave my purse in my car every night... doors locked though.. unless dh drives then he never locks my car.

It's very safe as far as the UK is concerned, but I still wouldn't leave my car or house unlocked if I weren't in it.

I do feel safe here things can be left in the car and nothing happens BUT I still lock and bolt all the doors because bad things do happen in good neighbourhoods

I think when you live in a city it's a different level or kind of safety than if you live in the suburbs. I don't have a car, but I'd never leave anything valuable in the car and we don't leave our apartment door unlocked--this is New York City!
However, I moved from a bad neighborhood (as in the occasional gunshot or person harmed/killed by a stray bullet was "normal") to a nice family oriented neighborhood. I feel so much safer, but it's still the city so you have to maintain a general level of watching your back. There have been a few car and garage break-ins as of late, but I don't worry about being hit by a stray bullet!

Yep! The best part is we actually live in the older part of town and most that don't live in this area think it's ghetto (lots of older, think 1910's, houses that aren't all kept up)... we have great neighbors (all older) and we've never had any issues!
The apartments on the "other side of town" that we just moved from... those were a totally different story & I'm SO glad to be out of them!
