We get a $400 Christmas bonus, which I think is pretty generous. What about you guys?

Nope, attorneys here don't get them. But, staff members do. Which I think is kind of unfair, sinc I'm an employee and not an owner of the firm.

Nope but DH does which is nice!! It's usually a % of his salary based on performance. Hoping for the max this year which is 4 or 5% I think? Not too shabby

Yes, but it has been different each year depending on how we busy we are/how much money is coming in. This year, I'll be about a week or two into my maternity leave, so I don't know if he's going to give me the bonus or not (I'll still have a few final paychecks coming in during that time). If I get one, great. If not, that is totally okay too since I won't be working at that point.

Nope, we get a yearly performance share, but that's in feb/march time frame.
pineapple / 12802 posts
@sslm: Mine is the same.
My husband owns his own company and usually gives himself a little bonus. haha.
hostess / wonderful persimmon / 25556 posts
Nope. My husband gets 10% of his salary put into his 401k, though.

@Sslm: DH used to work at a bank and it was that way too, it was awesome! Sadly he doesn't work there anymore!

@mrbee: the administrative staff - secretaries, paralegals...basically anyone who is not an attorney.

Nope. My husband gets a year end bonus which is based on his performance during the year. There is a bonus at my current company but it gets paid out in March and since I am quitting on Monday, I will be getting nothing.
GOLD / cantaloupe / 6581 posts
I don't but my DH does! I can't wait! It's going straight into the baby fund!

DH usually gets a big bonus, depending on how well their projects have done during the year.
Instead of a cash bonus, I get the entire time between Christmas and New Years off. Effectively an extra week of vacation.
grapefruit / 4235 posts
We don't get a cash Christmas bonus but our annual bonus comes in January/February. Last year was the first time we've gotten one in 3 years. But they've given us a profit share in our 401ks every year.
pomelo / 5331 posts
They do a discretionary profit-sharing bonus, but I'm not sure if they're doing it this year because there was an extremely generous mid-year bonus given out upon completion of a companywide project.

I get a Christmas gift, often in the form of cash. It is very much apprieciated, but never to be expected : )
pomelo / 5298 posts
Yes and it is about $400. My DH gets an extra two week paycheck. I wish I got an extra two week paycheck too.
pomelo / 5789 posts
I'm in the same situation as @highwire:
We get them at work ( I got about $750 last year after only being there a few months)
This year, I will have been on maternity for about a week when bonus's are given out.
I would like to think I would get one, but it's not expected and not a big deal if I dont.
GOLD / wonderful pea / 17697 posts
I'd better be getting a bonus from DH in the form of something shiny, lol.
DH gets a profit-sharing bonus from his company every quarter, somewhere in the tune of $350 during the slow season and more during the busy season (since it's tied to profits and all). The last one of the year gets paid out right before Christmas, so it's technically a Christmas bonus, but he'd be getting it then even if Christmas wasn't a thing.
coconut / 8234 posts
Technically it's not a bonus. We've been getting a "bonus" around Christmas time since 2009 because there haven't been any salary increases since 2008. I like getting the check, but it kind of sucks not to even have had a cost of living increase since then. And you only get a "bonus" if you've had a good performance review.

@mediagirl: That's actually pretty awesome!
We usually get a bonus around the holidays, but the amount depends on our revenue, and revenue has been down this year. So I don't know if we will this year or not.

@winniebee: what?! you'd think it'd be the other way around!!
I wish SAHMs got bonuses!! I think we should get subsidies from the government
DH doesn't... which totally sucks.
blogger / wonderful cherry / 21616 posts
Oh! I should mention - he used to work at Lowes and got amazing holiday pay!! He would work all the holidays and we'd do get togethers with my family the day after or something.

The first couple of years we did. & then last year we didnt get anything so I am not expecting anything this year. It sure was nice those first few years!

Our company bonuses quarterly based on a multitude of factors, profitablility, rentention, loss ratio etc. Sometimes it's great, sometimes not so much. Lately it's been pretty great.
cantaloupe / 6206 posts
hmm, i don't know! I started in February so we'll see - but I'm 99% sure we don't, I feel like I would've heard about it or something.
coconut / 8472 posts
Our bonuses are part of our total compensation package. They're paid quarterly and are a percentage of our pay. Mine was approximately 10% of my pay (divided by 4 each quarter) and DH's is about 7%. Depending on quarterly performance you either get the whole amount you might lose as much as 20% of it if it's not a good quarter. The company had a bad quater (hence my layoff) so we'll be losing 10% of our bonuses.
I can't remember DH's typical amount, but after taxes mine was about $1200/quarter. I usually used my November one to pay for Christmas gifts and stuff.

Sort of. If our company makes at least X dollars in profit, we'll get a 10% of our salary bonus. I'm reallllly hoping we make that profit so we get the bonus!
apricot / 302 posts
No bonuses for me, but my husband gets one thankfully. My company doesn't do any bonuses of any kind
nectarine / 2797 posts
We get our annual profit sharing in our first paycheck in December. Usually comes out to a nice bonus!
grapefruit / 4187 posts
I'm eligible for an annual bonus that gets paid in April, but no Christmas bonus. I got one once at my previous job and it was pretty sweet since it was totally unexpected.
I love getting a bonus, but I'd honestly rather take the raise hands down since the bonus is taxed 52% and doesn't add to my base pay. So if I ever move jobs or get promoted the bonus doesn't help me in salary negotiations at all.
