We had a small garden over the summer. We had cucumbers, bell and banana peppers, tomatoes, okra, and watermelon. The tomatoes did terrible! The bell peppers were the best crop. They were so flavorful! I also have a lime tree in the back yard. It's been there for years, so it doesn't require any maintenance from me.

I've grown different things with different levels of success. The main factor I've come to learn is SUNLIGHT! The sunlight has to be a perfect match for the item being grown.
Herbs are the best and easiest for me, our "herb garden" is a wild, over-grown mess because I love to plant and hate to prune! lol!
Tomatoes & squashes/zucchinis are pretty easy and tasty to boot! But we live next to a field with field mice that love to eat all my tomatoes and other fruits and veggies!
My Meyer Lemons are growing now and the house came with established Key Lime and Orange trees.
The field mice eat all our oranges, bell peppers, and tomatoes so it's always a struggle to beat them to the fruits of gardening labor.

Yes, we usually grow tomatoes, sugar snap peas, rhubarb and some kind of chili pepper. This summer we also tried growing a bed of lettuce, but we totally neglected them - we were busy with more important things (LO's arrival). We also inherited a small elderberry tree that's very prolific and I made elderberry jam with it (it was good)!
There was also a bunch of herbs that I transplanted into an herb garden, but we dug those out completely this year to make room for the tomatoes (much sunnier spot). I went to so much trouble saving/transplanting them 2 years ago but ended up having DH just dig them out because I was so tired during my pregnancy, I didn't wanna bother.
Next year, we plan on including carrots and sunchokes to the list. I want to practice on the carrot growing, I'm totally infatuated with having LO grow carrots. I want to make sure we find the right spot when she's old enough to actually grow them herself.

Yes! We have two large gardens, over 8000 sq ft of garden. We can and freeze food for the winter. I love it!

We've had big gardens in the past, but we don't have one now because of our lack of space (and the fact we'll be moving soon).
Once we get to Kosovo we'll be planting a big garden.

Just herbs. My neighbor wants to grow a veggie garden between are houses, which would be good because she actually knows what she is doing. I do not

I've tried growing my own herbs and failed at that so I don't think I could manage to grow a garden even if I really, really wanted to. LOL!
