With an all consuming, phobic passion. Well, not the dentist so much as GOING to the dentist. But I'm one of those unlucky people that is always told things like, "You have great home care, we can tell you floss well, but you have X cavities, need x crowns, and x root canals."

Meanwhile, DH was never taken to the dentist as a child, only started flossing well and going to the dentist regularly after he married me and has had . . . wait for it . . .0 cavities. Grrrrr....

@Mrs. Blue: same! I take care of my teeth, rarely drink coffee/soda, and I'm the one that has all kinds of problems - it's just genetic. Meanwhile my husband always forgets to floss and drinks coffee/soda/candy and he has had 1 cavity in his life. My friends are the same way...it's like men have superior enamel or something.

I actually like the dentist! I've always had really good experiences!

I usually like it - unless I need a filling.

I hate it, I have horrible teeth which should have been fixed when I was younger (eg. braces, teeth removed etc). I had to see a surgeon dentist about getting my wisdom teeth removed but it will involve other things like removing another tooth, getting a filling etc and I'm too afraid to go down that road just yet.

I had horrible experiences as a child so I didn't go as often as I should have. By the time I finally got the courage to go it had probably been 10 years and I needed so much work done. The first time I sat down in the chair the whole thing was shaking! I got all my work done but I was still an anxious mess every time I went.

But then I changed dentists and wow, what a difference! I actually look forward to going to the dentist now! Even if I do have a cavity he doesn't make me feel bad about it like all my others. He just tells me that we need to fix it and take better care of them the next 6 months.

The dentist gives me a rose every time I go. So there's that.

I am petrified.

I used to take a Xanax - prescribed by the dentist! - before each and every visit.

i love the dentist! when i was a kid i got like 6 bottom teeth removed and i still loved the dentist. i think it was the special drawer i got to pick a toy or sticker from after each appointment.

Nope. Doesn't bother me at all. I don't love it but I deal with dentists like I deal with doctors. No big deal.

@Mrs. Blue: @yerpie110: @sandy: same!! I think I take great care of my teeth- I avoid sugar and never drink pop, brush daily, floss, Etc, but I have a cavity every time I go. Ugh. It sucks so badly.

I hate hate hate the dentist with a passion... Which is why I haven't gone in like three years... Oops

@.twist. i never had a cavity growing up, and my dentist had always said i had great teeth. and got my first one when i was like 23. i was DEVASTATED!

I don't mind it, I love the feeling afterwards!

I LOVE my dentist, but I HATE going there because every time I go for just a check up or cleaning, I end up having to go back multiple times for cavities, fillings, and have even gotten 2 root canals already. It's never ever just a one time visit!

It doesn't bother me... And I work for one. It just annoys me when people ask what I do and then tell me that they hate what I do ( hygienist) .... Is not like someone tells me they are an accountant and the first thing I say to them is " I hate accountants!".

@.twist.: I'm right there with you!!! I love LOVE LOVE going to the dentist! I seriously look forward to it. I would go every month for a cleaning if insurance paid for it lol I've also been goin to the same dentist for over 25 years!
