My DH and I want to come up with a nickname for our unborn baby. He/she is very active so hubby thought of Roo (from Winnie the Pooh) since neither of us knows if Roo is a boy or a girl.

Mine was Ducky. We had some ducky themed things for it, but it wasn't a sticky baby. We're thinking that the next time it'll be monkey or jelly-fish.

We never did. We ended up waiting to find out if it was a boy or girl and called her by her name.
I love nicknames though, so cute!

We call ours Lemon, because we love gin martinis with a lemon twist, and because we pretty much love anything with lemon in it.
During my first trimester when I was really sick (and still to this day with pain and issues), my husband also loves to call her the “tiny tyrant”.

For now I just call the baby my little jumping bean because it is super active. I can't wait to find out the gender so we can have a real name

We are lame and called the baby "it" or "the baby" until we found out the gender. Once we found out it's a boy we call him "him" "baby boy" or "your son". Lame!

I haven't said it out loud - in fact, I've only started thinking it this week, as I'm only 5 weeks! But our boy name is Graham, and I'm convinced we're having a boy, so I've been referring to it (to myself) as graham cracker. HAHA. I'm horrible.

Gummy bear early on, Monster, The Boss, Baby Hoff, The Boy.
The last couple of weeks after we settled on a name we called him Shrimp King (and still do), it is a play on his name in Spanish (close enough) Cameron Ray.

@winniebee: and he knows that he still is the boss. I tried to stop in at work today for everyone to meet him, as soon as we started talking shop, he threw a fit!
We started calling him the boss when morning sickness kicked in. My husband was amazed that I could go from normal to puking in 3.5 seconds... he realized that we were no longer in charge.

We call ours Tot, which is short for Tater Tot. My hubby was eating them at the time and decided that was going to be his/her nickname since we aren't finding out the gender

@lemondrop: Makes perfect sense! My husband likes to try to "scold" the fetus when he makes me too hungry, or causes something unpleasant to happen. I'm like, you know that's useless for at least another year and a half, right?

Babycentre used to describe their size using fruits and it was cute when it was blueberry, raspberry, strawberry but we kinda balk when it became kum quat which is so not cute!!! Since we did not know the sex till pretty late, we started calling DD #1 Sheepy Berry where Sheepy is what DH calls me. So since before she was born until now at 31 months, we still call her Sheepy Berry
As for her twin sisters, we just called them Little Berries, one is supposed to be La La Berry and the other Mo Mo Berry but somehow, they aren't sticking ....

My sisters call the baby, Hooper, kind of after a joke. My mom calls the baby 'velveeta' and my aunt has a ton of names that she calls it all at once. Hubby and I call it the baby. We are really original.

My husband told his co-workers we weren't sharing our LO's name so they came up with a bunch of names for her. The guys then took all the nicknames and strung them together for:
Lady bird Martha Washington Eleanor Roosevelt Hopkins. I just laugh.

So far we've just used whatever fruit the baby is measuring as that particular day...so last week s/he was a prune (although we decided to use strawberry instead) and this week s/he's my little lime.

I need to amend my answer - I realize that I when I am by myself and talking to the baby (mostly when he is moving) I call him Buddy!

@winniebee: mine did the same thing... only he would cheer him on to kick me sometimes.
He scolded him when we were ready for him to come out and my husband wanted to start paternity leave early. Cam made him wait until the last day of work, and my water broke when my husband was on the phone with an emergency that needed to be seen (vet)!

Little Jack was "Lemon"- not too tart and not too sweet! Obviously our second isn't a belly baby, so it makes it harder to come up with a nickname. We asked expectant mom if she has a nickname and her response was "No way!"... But since I've become a blogger bee, we've taken to calling the baby "Jack Jack" from the Incredibles!

Somehow my sister and I ended up referring to the baby as Booger, as in "the little booger." Mostly just Booger now. My husband keeps threatening to make it official if it's a boy!

I started calling our LO Ziggy (for Ziggy the Zygote) as soon as we knew I was pregnant. Ziggy has stuck, but I usually call baby the Zigmeister, or since he/she has started assaulting the inside of my uterus, Kickypants. I think Ziggy might stick as a nickname forever, because friends, family and co-workers refer to our baby as Ziggy in conversation now.

I call mine "Buddy" or "jellybean" when I'm talking to it and giving it my growing pep talks. Is it weird that I rub the top of my uterus and my stomach does morning sickness circles on me? I like to think of that as my jellybean listening to me or something. I'm 10 weeks today.

We called her (and even before we knew she was a she) "berry" because one of our friends asked when I was going to start showing & I said "Right now she is only the size of a raspberry" & it stuck. Actually, a lot of our friends STILL call her the berry lol

At this point I refer to it as an alien because of the havoc it has wreaked on my body in terms of morning sickness, acne, and greasy hair. My husband just calls it baby.

I call him baby, buddy, little guy, and since the anatomy scan ultrasound, mr. lickey (he was licking his hand), or mr. kick myself in the face (he did that on 'camera' too). and some times mr. lickey mckickmyselfintheface. And little lickey.
