Yes I havent been to the dentist since 2010!! I need deep cleaning which is done in quadrants, and maybe some further work on my gums.

I hate the dentist!! I actually just went this morning and was dreading it cause I had to get a full set of xrays. Luckily, they said they would wait 6 months and do them then. I had a letter from my doctor saying it was fine, as long as I wore 2 layers of the xray robe thing they lay on you. But they said that they would rather just wait till I am not longer pregnant. So it wasn't as bad as I was expecting.
And no cavities!!

i had a root canal when i was 17 and had the temporary cap on for over 10 years. 2 months ago i finally bit the bullet and had the crown done.... at my last cleaning the dentist was like 10 years it might be some kind of record

I go every 6 months, but I have been putting off purchasing a special mouth guard because it's not covered by insurance and would cost me $400. I am apparently grinding my teeth like a madwoman during my sleep, and my dentist is actually concerned that I'm going to wear them down to the point that I'm going to permanently change the shape of my face. I know I should buy the mouth guard, but I have better things to spend $400 on.

I need my wisdom teeth removed, and about 8 - 10 cavities filled .. I have really soft teeth and they suffer when they go to the dentist.. I dread it!
wonderful olive / 19353 posts
Nope! No cavities in quite a few years *knock on wood* and I'm all caught up on semi-yearly cleanings.
@chopsuey119: you're totally flooding the boards this morning. awesomeness.

Some of the skin around my teeth are receeding so I need to get the surgery where they take a flap of skin from the top of your jaw and use that skin where the skin is receding from your teeth. All of this is a result from brushing too hard. Go figure brushing my teeth would hurt me.

I had a TON of work done last year (emergency root canal with a crown, followed by 5 fillings throughout the year). I have a (filled) tooth that's been bothering me a little sometimes, and I've been putting it off because of $$, but I'm still going regularly for my cleanings.

I have a cleaning on the 15th of December. I got regularly because I love the dentist. I am a freak.

@krsmall: Omg, that sounds like a scary procedure!!
I didn't have dental insurance starting in 2009, so I think the last time I went to a dentist was in 2008. I went for the first time last month, and they said I needed a DEEP cleaning due to all the build up. Some of you may remember my post about shots in the gums! The procedure took 12 SHOTS in my gums, and 2 hours of chipping away!! It was terrifying, I made my DH take the afternoon off work to accompany me, HAHAHA. That's how scared I was.
You better believe I will be going to the dentist with a bit more regularity moving forward, with or without insurance!
pineapple / 12234 posts
No, but DH has 4 cavities that really need to be filled! He has to be done with his invisilign before he can get them done.

I have to get a consult on getting my 4 wisdom teeth removed and have been putting it off for a few weeks now

I haven't been to the dentist in years. For shame. I have no good excuse.

I had a crown put on earlier this year and since I switched dentists recently, my new dentist wants to replace 2 fillings I have on back teeth with potential crowns, but I'm really not in a hurry to do that since they're filled already.
Basically their reasoning for doing it is that eventually there will be additional decay around the filling and if the tooth were to break apart, I could lose the whole tooth.

I really need to go to the dentist, I've never had a cavity in my life but I have a sore tooth so I'm thinking I may now. It's just too expensive!

I have a cavity (my very first ever!) to be filled next week. I seriously considered just not making an appointment (I'm a little nervous), but I figured I might as well get this taken care of before our insurance changes next year.

I put off getting my wisdom out for years! I finally had them taken out in March. I was really scared, but it didn't hurt. I had tons of bruises and swelling. It looked like someone had been hitting me.

Oh yes.....I have a wisdom tooth with a massive cavity that's needs to be yanked out. All my wisdom teeth need outing. But who wants to get teeth pulled with a little baby to take care of?;

Not putting off, I have an appointment in December to get my screws uncovered. I've had at least a dozen dental surgeries in the last calender year, so this is just adding to my list of annoying dental work!
@Crumbs: haha yuck!
persimmon / 1388 posts
Nope, I made sure I took care of all major dental work this year. Had all 4 of my wisdom teeth extracted. Had a root canal with a crown done. Needless to say I maxed out my dental coverage for the year :-\
I have a semi-annual cleaning next week. Fingers crossed I don't need any other work done...because it's going to have to wait until next calendar year!

I don't know if I need anything done...but my teeth look and feel good so I just let it slide.........lol
When it comes to all things doctors, I have to be near death to go.

@krsmall: Ohmagawd, I'm terrified of this. I have an unhealthy obsession with teeth-whitening products (including toothpastes) and am petrified each time I go in that they'll be like, "Yeaaaaah, about thaaaat..." *shudder* Good luck, lady.
Otherwise, they've been telling me for about 7 years I need my wisdom teeth out. I haven't had any ill-effects since they came in (no pain, crowding, cavities, etc.), so I guess I haven't seen the urgency... Ha, aside from that, I'm in good shape!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
haha, no. My teeth have issues so I get them cleaned every 3 months, alternating between my regular dentist and my periodontist. I'll never put off dental work again!!!
My husband on the other hand hadn't been to the dentist in FOUR years when I FINALLY pressured him enough to go. He thought he chipped a tooth, so I forced him to make an appointment and he actually has a cavity! Yikes! Luckily, his new dentist forced him to make another routine cleaning appointment so hopefully he'll get back into the habit of going regularly.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@ms.janedoe: Every time I go, my dentist mentions having my wisdom teeth removed just because they "may" be harder to brush and so I "might" get more cavities on them. Granted, I actually DO have a couple cavities on my wisdom teeth, but that's what fillings are for! I refuse to have them removed unless I need anything more than a filling done to them!
pomegranate / 3160 posts
@Adira: YES! "It MAY be harder to brush...so you MAY develop more cavities." Betch, please. In the last 7 years there has been nothing resembling a cavity on any of my 4 (yep, got 'em all!) wisdom teeth.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@ms.janedoe: I have all four of mine as well, with room to spare! I can feel gum behind them, so I don't see why the dentist keeps insisting I get them removed. I'm keeping them!
On the flip side, my husband only has 24 of his teeth! He had to get both his wisdom teeth and second molars removed! AND he still has some of his baby teeth! I'm kind of hoping our kid gets my big mouth instead of his...

I LOVE going to the dentist. I have an appointment for 12/3. I need a cleaning. I was uber preggo when I was last due for one, so I put it off... and now it's been over a year since my last one.
GOLD / cantaloupe / 6703 posts
I need to go. I cracked a filled tooth at Halloween. I know they'll want to crown it or something equally expensive. Plus I know that I have other cavities, but it's so expensive and we don't have dental.

I have a temp filling that I was supposed to have removed in place of a permanent one back in......June. It's turning out to be more long term than it was supposed to be.
pomegranate / 3244 posts
@krsmall: Ugh, I just went to the dentist on Monday and they told me this gum thing was happening to me, too. I wasn't aware that surgery could fix it. WTF, I thought brushing was supposed to be good for you, ha.
I also have a few small/minor cavities that need to be filled. I made it until age 28 before I had any cavities though, so I consider it a victory.
