We're visiting my parents in the States and it is killing me that they don't have recycling as part of their standard rubbish collection! They live in a suburb of a major city, so there is no reason for them not to have it, but the only option for their recycling is if they take it to the recycling centre themselves. And unfortunately, my mom is just not prepared to do that....

Where we live (in England), recycling is a major part of our rubbish collection. We have one general rubbish bin, collected every other week, and then four recycling bins (paper/cardboard, glass, plastic/aluminium, and food/garden waste), also collected every other week. I love that they make it so easy as it means that a significant portion of recyclable stuff actually makes it into recycling!

What is it like where you are? Is it part of your standard collection or do you have to pay for it? Would you recycle if you had to take it somewhere yourself?
