Yes, it's part of our garbage collection. There are also certain days for yard waste, electronics, etc. I know that in much of the South, it's not standard and they have to take it to a centre. BIL has been back over a year and will still throw recyclables in the trash!

My township just switched was removal companies and the new one gave us a 50 gallon can on wheels for recycling.

Weird! We have garbage, recycling of most things, yard waste, and compost all picked up at our curb.

We have trash, recycling, and compost bins. Trash and compost are weekly and you pay for the size container you want to use (but it's mandatory to have at least the smallest size of each unless you have your own compost setup in your backyard). Recycling is picked up every other week and is free.

We have everything you mentioned as standard trash pick up. Regular trash and paper are in the building. Outside, every few blocks, are receptacles for glass (one for clear one for colored), plastic, metal and food waste. We use them all. Some of the trash is burned to create energy to heat water that is used for heating buildings. The food trash is used to make methane for buses. It makes me feel extremely guilty when we visit other places that don't recycle and we are supposed to just throw everything away. Eeek!

yep its part of our standard rubbish pick up - its paid for through our council rates. One bin for general waste, another for all recyclables (glass, paper, plastic and metal in same bin), and we also have a third bin that is for green waste (grass, cuttings etc).

Yes! We have to pay for trash pick up but recycling is free. DS *freaks* if DD puts recycling in the garbage...I heard him say, "do you want landfills to take over our planet?" to DD the other day, haha.

Our city started including it with standard trash pick up about 4 years ago. Before that, I had to collect it and haul it to the recycle center where I had to separate it all myself. Now I just throw it all into one giant trash bin and stick it out on the curb. It's great!

Yes. We live in an apartment. There is a recycling dumpster right next to the garbage dumpster.

Yes. Our town (taxes) pays to pick up all recycling once a week. They only do trash every other week so it really promotes recycling. They also pick up compost weekly.

Yes we get garbage and recycling pick up every second week (they alternate). We don't have to sort which I like.

We pay an extra $8/month on top of our trash pick up costs to also have recycling pick up. We are one of very few houses in our neighborhood that does it. And for some reason they don't take glass. So there is much less recycling happening than there could/should be.

We have the option of either curbside trash and recycling pickup for a fee, or we can bring everything to the dump/recycling center for free. We choose to do the latter, as the center is only a few minutes up the road. Plus, we can bring an entire carload of recycling instead of trying to squeeze it all into little bins
