Abigail, Alison and Tonia were my mom's top choices. My dad vetoed all of them, thank god.

If I were a boy, it would have been Michael, my little brother's name ( family name), and I was originally supposed to be Katherine, but my cousin was named Katherine first, so I am the Gaelic version. However, I know my mom liked my name through her first two pregnancies.

@travelgirl1: I think Seraphina is beautiful! I was going to be Dawn. (I'm glad I'm not) and Eddie if I was a boy. I like my name just fine

My dad wanted me to be named Emily. I like it a lot! My mom won though and they named me Danielle

@Mrs. Jacks: I think it's more popular now than it was back then... But it would sooo not have gone with my last name. Ps, I especially love your youngest daughter's name-so pretty!

@Autumnlove: can you imagine being named Nanette? I just think of the 1920s musical, No, No, Nanette...and that's only because I was in it my freshman year of high school!

They were considering naming me Ariel. Thank goodness they didn't... since I have long wavy red hair, I never would have heard the end of it.

Mom wanted to name me Robin but Dad thought people would call me bird brain. Not sure what I would have been if a boy, maybe my younger brothers name?

My mom wanted to name me Alabama Lynn and call me Allie. Thank God my aunt stepped in and helped change her mind!

Daphne. I'm glad they went with Brianne.
@Sweet T: Alabama? Nice.

@zippylef: Oi!!! One of those is my name!!! Haha!
I was supposed to be Andrea but my dad went to register me alone and came back with a different name on the birth certificate! My mum doesn't know where he had got it from - they'd never even discussed that name!

I would have been Brendan if I was a boy. My great aunt wanted my parents to name me after my great grandmother - Blossom. Thank goodness they did not do that!

My mom had my name picked out for years so it was easy! I'm not sure what the name would have been if I were a boy

I was "Frances" for three days before they changed to what it is now. My current name isn't better.

My dad liked Melissa but my mom hated the nn Missy so she vetoed. I would have been Kyle (my kid brother's name) if I were a boy.

Not me. But my sister's name starts with an L, my dad got to pick it since my mom picked my older brother's. If she were going to be a boy it would be Lenny, and my mom wasn't a fan. She was sitting there pushing her out praying she'd be a girl.

@rubies - your name IS better than Frances. At least people know you're a girl when they see/say your name! Frances is a tough one.
I was going to be Dana. I'm so glad they changed their mind!! For a short period of time, they considered calling me by my grandmothers' middle names: Dolores Josephine

I'm not sure what other girl names they were considering as my dad says they had a couple and my mom claims that she wasn't sold on anything and just knew my name fit when she heard it.
If I was a boy I would have been Matthew after my dad's middle name.

My parents were also considering Katie, which is ironic because everyone tells me I look like Katie Holmes...my name would have been Katie Homler!

I was almost Jeanine because it sounds close to my name in Mandarin... glad I'm Charlene instead!

@autumnlove: I do not know why but they thought they were having a boy, even though my mom had no ultrasounds. So they picked Andrew and only had to change one letter when I came out.

If I was a boy I would have been Carrington Bryce. I'm not sure how I feel about that name.

My mom wanted to name me Lily (which I like) or Hyacinth (no). If I were a boy it would have been Eric.

@autumnlove: I know, your parents were a little more creative but I see they like A names, too!

Caoilin (I think the proper pronounciation is KEE-lin but they'd have pronounced it Kay-oh-lin) Siobhan. I don't know why but they changed their minds at the last minute (like after I was born) and I ended up being Sarah Caitlin.

If I was a boy, I was going to be Daniel Logan. My name was predestined because my dad had always wanted to name a daughter after my mom's grandma. If either of my brothers had been girls, they would have had my name.

My mom wanted Paige and my dad wanted Aubrie. My name is Aubrie Paige (first and middle, not one name) My dad won that one

Yup, my mom liked Laura but it sounded funny with our last name.

My mom wanted to name me Kitty. Not Katherine with Kitty as a nickname, just Kitty. Thankfully my dad put the hells no on that choice. My mom also wanted to name me Ballard, which I would be fine with as an adult but since the neighborhood we grew up in was right next to a neighborhood called Ballard, I think there would have been a fair amount of teasing.
