I don't know if they had other girl names picked, but if I had been a boy I would've been Justin.

I would have been Victoria... but they didn't think I looked like a Vicki or a Tori when i was born. I was nameless for a few hours, until my dad went to McDonald's to grab my mom some dinner. Apparently, my dad thought the server was cute and her name tag said Stephanie that was in 1984 and also the #1 name that year. So thats how i got my name...

I was going to be Ann Elizabeth but my cousin born two months before me was named Elizabeth Ann, so my parents chose a different name.

They were team green and didn't know what I was going to be. They didn't really have any boy names picked out, but their top girl name was Samantha. They decided to go with the my common (around there) name of Jennifer. Well, it was 1980 and apparently, so did everyone else!

My mom wanted to name me Timber. My Mema saved me from a lifetime of torture lol. She told me mom it was dumb every day until she changed her mind. My Mema also thought my actual name was dumb too. She said, "what kind of name is that?" I love my name though, so I'm glad my mom didn't change her mind again.

If I were a boy I would have been Zachary.

My mom wanted to name me Marina but my dad's mom told her that was a brand of toilet paper, so that ruined it for her. The other option was Cody (they liked that it was unisex) - glad they didn't go with either, although Cody is kinda cute.

Jennifer was thrown out there for a girl, but my dad has a horse named Jennifer that hated my mom...she vetoed it thank goodness, I did not want to be named after a horse! I would have been Jared if I were a boy.

@Rubies: haha, that's the one I got saddled with! Boy or girl, they only would have changed the spelling. Guess I'm thankful to have ended up a girl? I'm indifferent to it, but took naming our son much more seriously!

What drives me crazy is that people always assume I'm Catholic and call me Mary Frances. Nothing wrong with that other than THAT'S NOT MY NAME!

I could have been Laura Jo or Savannah. Thomas Milton would have been my name if I were a boy.

I guess they only had ONE girl name picked out, they didnt even know if I was going to be a girl or boy. My mom just "new" I was a girl. I have an older brother, and if he was a girl he was going to be Jennifer, well my cousin got that name. So I think had my Uncle and Aunt not had used that name I would have been Jennifer.

I was going to be Casey if I was a boy or a girl... but I guess I didn't look like a Casey when I came out. So now I'm Christine

If I was a boy my parents were going to name me Tony. I don't know if they meant Anthony? The name I ended up with is still a bit outdated but I like it better!
